Germany - The launch of LightGeist's new product range, the LightStick, the Badger and the Splodger, proved an unmitigated success at the Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt.

Exhibiting for the first time, the LightGeist team was delighted with the impact the new products had on visitors and the instant response they generated.

"Visitors were fascinated with the effects produced by LightStick and the flexibility and versatility of Badger and Splodger," says LightGeist CCO, Nigel Hedley. Germany - Robert Juliat experienced a successful show at Prolight + Sound, Frankfurt with a constant stream of visitors keeping the stand exceptionally busy over the four days.

Robert Juliat chose to refocus attention on its followspot range to reinvigorate its presence in the German market. The models on show - the Cyrano 2500W HMI, Lancelot 4000W HTI and Victor 1800W MSR - proved a great hit, not only in the German market but also with the international presence that was so evident at the show.

UK - Total Solutions Group are gearing up for PLASA Focus Leeds 2014, and it will be the first time at the event for project manager, Nigel Tranter. Nigel has been responsible for designing large projects over the years for TSG.

TSG will be exhibiting this year on stand N-B26 where pictures of recent projects including the Winter Olympics and the Olivier Awards, will be displayed. The OV Truss which was launched at the PLASA Focus show last year (and will be on the stand), has been greatly received and TSG reports an extensive list of clients after its first year of production.

UK - MilTec (UK) Ltd will be showcasing a wide range of new products at the PLASA Focus show in April (Stand N-C07). In addition to the usual stand in the New Dock Hall, the company will have a live demo room in the Holiday Inn Hotel next door. Demos will be running all day and will give visitors an opportunity to listen to the successful Blakite range of speakers and to see a selection of LED lighting products.

The Blakite speakers were designed by MilTec and are built in the UK. Most are loaded with British drivers. New additions to the range are a compact stage wedge, loaded with a 12" neodymium driver and concentric HF horn, together with a 6" trapezoidal speaker for installations and small conference work.

The success of the speakers has inspired the company to expand the UK manufacturing base to include amplifiers and LED Lighting products.

Downloadable from the website, v1.4 introduces several new features, including multiple access user permissions, Windows drivers for multitrack streaming, per scene recall filters and FX user libraries.

V1.4 includes the much anticipated Windows drivers, enabling bit-perfect, ASIO and WDM compliant multitrack playback and recording.

UK - BSc (Hons) Lighting and Live Event Technology students from the University of South Wales have showcased their best work at the successful Innovation Expo 2014 event, held at the Wales Millennium Centre. The two-day event, held on Tuesday and Wednesday 1-2 April, saw 27 students present nine different products to industry employers.

Each group were tasked with developing and building a product prototype and creating their business model before marketing their product to potential buyers. This was a six-month process in their final year of study where students took their existing skills and interests and then sought out new knowledge and techniques to enable them to realise their products.
