Germany - At ProLight + Sound in Frankfurt Alcons Audio will introduce and demonstrate its latest innovations including a significant new range.

As shown already on the recent ISE show in Amsterdam, the CRMS three-way reference cinema sound system will be shown for the first time in Frankfurt. Alcons developed the Cinema Ribbon Monitor System as reference-quality sound reproduction system for sound-for-picture applications, with fully matched loudspeaker, processing and amplifier components. The first system has already been installed in the Norwegian Film Institute.

IC 6 Pro A is a self-powered ceiling speaker (class D) controlled by DMX for an independent control of many zones (up to 512 per universe) with a unique controller for all the devices.

The new G4 BlackBox is able to repair corrupted data and vouches for maximum security, by running on dual band and creating a backup duplicate of the signal. This new standard is transparent and works with several protocols, creating extreme flexibility and reliability without need for additional controllers or software, says the company.

Germany - Visual Productions will be showing Cuelux software lighting control running on Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows and Ubuntu Linux at ProLight&Sound.

The Mac computers will highlight Cuelux' Plug&Play MIDI feature, including connection to a Behringer BCF2000 MIDI desk with motorized faders: a suitable package for any LJ / DJ or Club to use.

The Windows version will be running on a touch screen computer showcasing the true nature of this touch screen designed software.

The Linux system will run the stand lighting which consists of a number of Lightcraft LED fixtures supplied by VP's German distributor LMP Lichttechnik.

Visual Productions will also be showing new hardware at the show. A new version of the DIN Rail DMX Splitter now features RJ-45 connectors. This further reduces the time required for an installer to create DMX networks on site.

UK - With the Soundcraft Vi Series now established on both the touring, broadcast and installed sound scenes, Soundcraft has taken this platform to another, more affordable level with the release of the new Vi1 console. Many users have asked for a smaller, lower-priced desk that still has the acclaimed Vistonics user interface, says the company.

A complete standalone the new console package features 32 channels of analogue input to 27 analogue outputs, plus six digital inputs, four Stereo FX Returns and six digital outputs in one chassis. USA - At ShoWest 2010 in Las Vegas, Dolby Laboratories announced it is working with Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios to deliver a new audio format, Dolby Surround 7.1. Disney and Pixar have stated that Dolby Surround 7.1 will be launched in select theatres with the release of Toy Story 3 in 3D this June.

Due to be displayed at the forthcoming NAB show (12-15 April, Las Vegas, USA) Zaxcom's new ERX1 and ERX1TCD bodypacks receive high-quality digital audio, timecode, and metadata from any IFB transmitter in the Zaxcom TRX product series, providing a secure platform for television and film production crews to manage the full range of IFB signals required for their productions, the company says.

USA - Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the availability of its new Video Wall Controller. A "premium solution for professional applications", it provides an easy method of creating high definition imagery spread across four displays stacked in a 2x2 configuration, say Gefen. A rugged metallic enclosure makes it suited to rental and staging applications as well as static digital signage presentations.

The Video Wall Controller outputs high definition video up to 1080p full HD from a single PC or video source using DVI connectivity. When combined with computer applications, resolutions are supported up to 1920x1200. One DVI input is split to four DVI outputs connected to four hi-def displays. Video can be spread across all four displays or just three, two or one display, giving users additional control over the creative content.

USA - Cree has announced the commercial availability of the award-winning XLamp XP-G LED in warm- and neutral-white colour temperatures (2600 K to 5000 K CCT). These new XP-G LEDs extend Cree's highest level of light output and efficacy across the white colour spectrum, driving general lighting applications such as LED replacement lamps, outdoor area and commercial luminaires.

The warm white (3000 K) XLamp XP-G provides up to 114 lumens and 109 lumens per watt at 350 mA. Driven at 1.0 A, the XP-G warm-white produces up to 285 lumens at 84 lumens per watt, which is four times the light output than the highest available XLamp XR-E warm-white LED at equal efficacy.

The neutral-white (4000 K) XLamp XP-G provides up to 139 lumens and 132 lumens per watt at 350 mA. Driven at 1.5 A, the XP-G neutral-white produces up to 463 lumens, which is four times the light output of the XLamp XR
