LIGHTset, which has worldwide patents pending, is the brainchild of Kent-based Prominence Production Services Ltd and is an 'all-in-one', fabric set solution which combines 3D printed images, creative lighting and crisp front or rear projection. Comprising a specially developed, polyester fabric substrate with a patented coating, LIGHTset enables set images to be printed directly onto fabric whilst the luminescence of the material gives the freedom to light a set from the front and rear simultaneously, with excellent definition.
"After spending 20 years designing, building, loading and unloading sets and stages around the world, I was determined to create an alternative, cost-effective solution," explains Phil Harlow, creative director at Prominence Production Services. "LIGHTset is an extremely versatile product that we believe offers event organisers, AV and production companies greater scope for design than a traditionally constructed set."
In addition to its creative capabilities, LIGHTset is lightweight, can be rigged in under an hour and is easy to store, a 10m x 3m set can be folded to fit in a laptop bag, meaning it eradicates the need for multiple labourers or vehicles. Suitable for use at conferences, live events, exhibitions and awards ceremonies, LIGHTset can also be customised for branded retail displays or hospitality venues using magnets to affix polystyrene logos to the set.
"We recently conducted a soft launch with some of our key clients and the feedback was extremely positive, particularly highlighting the practical and innovative nature of LIGHTset. Our design is unlike anything else available in the world; its flexibility to create bespoke backdrops means it has the potential to become the default product for set design." Concluded Harlow.
LIGHTset is inherently flame retardant, completely washable and available for sale or hire, says the company.
