Jon Lord from Deep Purple performed on the main floating stage that night amongst many other extraordinary artists such as the Transe Express in Maudits Sonnants, the jaw dropping flying French phenomenon. Suspended by a telescopic crane, this turning musical chandelier leads the movements of the suspended musicians. Using a lighting system integrated into the structure, the visual variations orchestrated by the music enforces the sonar atmosphere. The eclectic mix of music, performance and every aspect of the arts you can imagine, is all brought together on this unique site alongside the River Thames at the Henley Festival.
The whole evening was a roaring success, and a proud moment for the company, with all they have achieved in 80 years, surviving wars and corporate takeovers. The founder, Reginald Jones sadly passed away in 1987 but his legacy remains. There is much more competition today, and the market demands the highest quality for minimum cost. For a people-based industry the product is still significant, and it's important to be one step ahead of the rest. However, the company says, RG Jones has strength above all others - a strong management team coupled with a history stretching over eighty years.
