Whitney Houston was of course star of the show, no less remarkable was the re-appearance of her cousin Dionne Warwick, the Burt Bacherach voice of the swinging sixties, and Nat King Cole's daughter Nathalie who had turned her father's jazz songs into nineties pop hits. This melange of rich soul voices sold out crowds at Hamburg's Color Line Arena, the Olympia Hall in Munich and the Kvnig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen.
For these German summer soul events a total of one hundred d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers in various configurations were supplied and rigged by Yousound Showtechnik of Augsburg, Germany, ensuring clear, faithful reproduction of the Divas brilliant performances. "We chose d&b equipment for this tour simply because we're sure that they would make a perfect working platform for this type of job," said Stefan Heinicke, Yousound's Director. "We find the d&b equipment to be very versatile. It allows us to do small or large shows because the speakers are fantastically flexible," he continued.
Yousound's own expert, Bernd Dimbeck, designed the system by flying and placing d&b C3s, C4-TOPs and SUBs along with B2 subwoofers for the main PA system, while Q1s provided the delay. C7-TOPs and C4-SUBs acted as front fills with C4 TOPs and SUBs giving side fill, with the entire setup being powered by d&b_s D12 amplifiers.
Yousound is supplying an incredible 860 shows around Europe this year and rely on two main factors in order to deliver high quality work and still stay in step with this incredibly demanding schedule; "using the best equipment available as a reliable working tool that can be rigged and de-rigged really quickly and of course a dedicated high quality work force who know how to bring it to life," boasted Heinicke.
