UK - Mojo Barriers is keeping McBusted's screaming fans safe as the British supergroup heads across the UK on its first ever arena tour. The tour sees members of boy bands Busted and McFly join forces to perform hits from both of their back catalogues, including Air Hostess (Busted), Five Colours in Her Hair (McFly), What I go to School For (Busted) and Shine A Light (McFly).

Originally planned for just 11 dates, it's now on the road for 34 in total, running until June 2014. Mojo Barriers has been contracted by Live Nation's promoter's rep Max Burnham from iBurnham Ltd, to provide the safety barriers for every date.

China - China's largest music industry media group, The Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group, has upgraded its music recording studio with a new SSL Duality console, Pro Tools and outboard equipment installed by Langdale Technical Consulting and, for the first time in China, using exclusively Blue Series Van Damme cable from VDC Trading.

Headquartered in Shanghai, the company is owned by one of the largest media conglomerates in China - The Shanghai Media and Entertainment Group. This flagship studio was originally built in about 1985 and was in dire need of refurbishment. Lighting and sound designer David Parry worked as consultant on the project and appointed Langdale Technical to handle the installation. The decision to use Van Damme cable was a popular one with the Chinese technical staff given its historical use in Abbey Road Studios.

UK - Blackout was commissioned to transform East London's Old Truman Brewery to make it catwalk ready for Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) 2014.

A platform to showcase fashion's future rising stars and known for launching careers of the likes of Stella McCartney and Julien MacDonald, this year's GFW attracted over 25,000 guests, hosted 20 catwalk shows and showcased over 40 talented universities.

The annual event, in its 23rd year, made the move to the edgier East End, deciding on the Old Truman Brewery as its new venue. Blackout's experienced rigging and draping team were called in to install two catwalk structures; one using ground supported truss and the other flown using 10 half ton motors.

"The two catwalks were held in completely difference spaces, Catwalk A was upstairs in a much lighter room with skylights and Catwalk B was located on the ground floor," explaine

UK - Tinie Tempah's 11-date UK and Ireland arena tour this spring was backed by staging rental outfit LS-Live.

The Temptation tour, which travelled from Wolverhampton Civic Hall and finished at The O2 Dublin in April, replaced cancelled shows from 2013 and showcased music from his Disc-Overy album and the more mature grime-pop sounds from his recent album Demonstration.

LS-Live welcomed the opportunity to work with Tinie Tempah and the team once again to design, build and modify the set at its arena-sized rehearsal unit. LS-Live designer Gaz Mallon worked closely with show designer Anthony Randall and production manager Phil Broad to ensure their creative vision was aptly brought to life for the relatively brief, but big-bite, tour.

UK - When Wicked opened at the King's Theatre in Glasgow in May, little did the management realise it would be the highest grossing show in the history of the venue. Over 53,000 tickets were snapped up for the show's sell-out Scottish premiere.

But to ensure the venue could play host to the spectacular musical phenomenon, it needed a little assistance from the team at Unusual Rigging, specifically to make the grid of the King's compatible with the magnitude and distribution of suspension points required for the show.

UK - London-based Coloursound Experiment has chosen the third generation of SES's 72 way touring racks as their preferred system. Having worked with SES in the past, Coloursound has placed an order for six rack mount units for their ever growing fleet with delivery of the first two units being made this week.

The racks are manufactured using extra thick steel and are powder coated. The units come with SES's new Digital meter and complemented with two LED rack lights which are new to the SES range. The racks are fully engraved to indicate all the outgoing functions and have the customers Logo, which is now a standard feature on all 19" racks where space allows.

This included branded graphics, stage, sound, lighting and video walls to host headliners Fun Living Criminals and Hayseed Dixie, as well as other rockabilly favourites.

UK - Mojo Barriers' UK office was entrusted to supply the stage barriers for three of the USA's biggest stars, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake, as they headed across the Atlantic to play their UK and European tour dates.

Katy Perry toured across the UK with 75m of Mojo Barriers' patented aluminium stage barrier, configured to follow the layout of the singer's v-shaped stage which was designed to reflect her latest album's title, Prysm. The layout, designed by Mojo Barriers' CAD specialists in cooperation with Perry's production team, featured a secondary barrier line within the 'v', used to create a custom 'golden circle' for fans to get up close and personal to the Roar star.

France - Airstar, a world leader in advanced lighting solutions for the event industry, was recently called on to animate the iconic and majestic nave of the Grand Palais in Paris with dramatic lighting of the 23rd edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo. USA - Nemetschek Vectorworksn has announced the release of the English version of SimTread 2, a pedestrian simulation tool developed by A&A Co. Ltd., the Vectorworks distributor in Japan, in partnership with Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and Takenaka Corporation. As a plug-in for Vectorworks software, SimTread lets users simulate and analyze crowd movement. It can also serve as evacuation simulation software for both general and complex building and municipal designs.

UK - Leading European flightcase manufacturer 5 Star Cases supplied 250 lightweight flight cases complete with padded and semi-rigid bags to live video rental and production specialist Creative Technology (CT).

These are being used to house a variety of different monitors and screens that are in active service on major events and broadcast projects. The order comprised casing for 110 x 42 inch screens, 90 x 32 inch screens and 50 x 22 inch screens.

The cases were delivered in just a few days from the Cambridgeshire based manufacturer, while its specialist bag making facility - which has just been expanded to meet increased demands - was kept busy for around three weeks, as the bags are all individually hand-made and finished to order.
