Originally, this production opened in a theatre in Stockholm, using a compact Geo S line array. On tour, the show is on the road for five weeks, playing in ice-hockey arenas to audiences of between 2,000 - 6,000. The sound reinforcement system has been provided by Music & Lights AB, a left/right flown Geo T line array design which varies slightly from venue to venue.
"Although they are all sports venues, we assess each one independently," says Matthias Andersson from Music & Lights. "We consider the needs of each location, especially the sightlines. The Geo T system is very easy to work with and easy to fly, so mostly it has been the same configuration in each arena."
Typically, the Sound of Music front-of-house PA has used 17 modules of Geo T in each array (15x T4805 plus two T2815 downfill cabinets), with a centre cluster comprising six GEO T boxes (three T4805 plus three T2815). Subbass is delivered by eight CD18 units, and the seats to either side of the stage are catered for by side- hangs of eight Geo S12 (7x S1210 plus 1x S1230).
The system is powered by 32x CAMCO Vortex 6 amplifiers, plus two V200 models, and mixed out front on a Yamaha PM5D console. On stage, there is a Nexo monitor system, using four flown and four stage-level PS15 cabinets. System management is via Nexo's NX242 Tdcontrollers, which carry the latest NXStream software release. "With this update, Geo T now sounds much more powerful and somehow 'bigger'," says Matthias Anderson, who has already booked his Geo systems out for the summer on Swedish and Norwegian festivals.
