Germany - At Frankfurt this year, Pan Acoustics will feature the Dante option for Pan Beam series, Pan Speaker series and Pan Powerline.

The Dante option offers some interesting features: for example, Pan Beam columns can be operated with two independent audio streams with a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz. The priority circuit in the Pan Beam columns allows automatic switchover of the audio source, for instance switching between programme and announcement signals.

Pan Acoustics' Dante option provides a primary and secondary port, which can be used in redundant or daisy-chain mode. The latter enables other compatible Dante devices, such as a digital stagebox, to be added into the network. Pan Beam models can be set and monitored via the Dante audio network (directivity, EQ, delay, etc) Switching presets, saved in the Pan Beam column speakers, is also possible.

Keeping Music Live - Small music venues are "operating under significant pressures, both financial and regulatory", a new report has found. The report, called Understanding Small Music Venues, also highlights concerns over the negative public perception of small venues. It has been created by the Music Venue Trust, which was established in 2014 to protect and support independent music venues in the UK.

Chief executive of the MVT Mark Davyd said that the research would contribute to the MVT's understanding of "what we can do to ensure we act together to protect, secure and improve the UK's grassroots music venues". In total, 109 venues across the UK responded to a survey as part of the research, of which almost 80% were dedicated music venues. The report said that small music venues were suffering from a negative image as well as from financial pressure

Germany - Dutch audio innovators Alcons Audio will be showing its latest pro-ribbon sound systems at Prolight+Sound 2015, and demonstrating new evolutionary audio solutions.

Alcons Audio is exhibiting on stand G60, Hall 8.0 and will be presenting her latest audio innovations, based around the company's patented Pro-Ribbon technology and its ongoing pursuit of audio perfection.

Europe - Having launched to critical acclaim from distributors, dealers and end users alike, the Roland O.H.R.C.A M-5000 digital mixing console is now shipping globally. First previewed in November last year, the M-5000 is the first Roland console based on O.H.R.C.A - a brand new, proprietary operating platform.

O.H.R.C.A, stands for three key concepts: Open; High Resolution; and Configurable Architecture. The core benefit of this new platform is flexibility - adapting to the needs both of the application and the operator by delivering 128 freely definable audio paths and essentially allowing the console to be 'built' to suit each application. All paths are delivered at a pristine 24-bit/96kHz sound quality and can be used as a mixing channel, AUX, matrix, subgroup buss or MIX-MINUS buss in any input/output configuration.

Peter Heath, head of Roland ProAV in Europe commented,

UK - Audiologic has announced the launch of sister brand Audiologic Connect. The essence of the new brand and website is to supply high quality cables and connectors to both the retail and trade sectors of the AV industry, although its remit is perhaps somewhat wider than that basic premise.

Consistent with Audiologic's desire to communicate closely with its customers to ensure their requirements are precisely met, Audiologic Connect will offer a similarly 'engaged' approach to customer service, inviting clients to discuss their needs in detail and where necessary, offer bespoke solutions.

Andy Lewis, sales and marketing manager at Audiologic, extolled the virtues of the new venture and delivered an enthusiastic s

UK - The 25th anniversary tour of Return to the Forbidden Planet is currently making its way around the UK, complete with a Flare Audio loudspeaker system, representing the first major touring musical production to deploy the recently launched X2A Compact Vertical Point Source Array system. Along with the X2, the show's system also carries Flare Audio's Q18 subs and the micro X0s for delay and front fill duties.

Flare Audio's polished aluminium speakers are an aesthetic match to the cult musical's 1950s sci-fi theme, and with Ben Harrison's new sound design, the combined effect is meteoric. He has been impressed with the X2's overall performance, explaining:

"Their size and profile mean they slot easily into traditional proscenium rigging positions where other traditional line array systems would struggle to fit. They perform very well, and so far have proved to be

USA - Audinate, creator of Dante, has announced the scheduled release of its firmware update that provides support for the AES67 audio networking standard.

AES67 is an interoperability standard created by the Audio Engineering Society, which specifies a baseline set of protocols enabling synchronized audio connectivity between compliant Audio-over-IP solutions. AES67 provides standardized methods for clock synchronization, quality of service and IP transport to bridge between different Audio-over-IP implementations.

The addition of AES67 will allow baseline connectivity between the growing ecosystem of Dante-enabled devices and networked devices from other vendors who support AES67 bridging. Although the AES67 standard covers only the basic sync, QoS and transport of networked audio, systems utilizing Dante networking will retain their enhanced features including simple device

UK - One of the UK's premier arts and entertainment venues, the Grade II* listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (LPH) is in the midst of a £13.8m refurbishment. Panama - Electrosonic has designed, fabricated and installed audio-visual systems in the Biomuseo in Panama City, Panama. Situated on the Amador Causeway, at the entrance to the Panama Canal in Latin America's only Frank Gehry-designed building, the Biomuseo will offer eight permanent art and science galleries on the origin of the isthmus and its impact on the planet's biodiversity.

In the early design stages of the project, Electrosonic's design consulting team worked with Kubik Inc, the project design/build and management group, on the development of each gallery, whose fabrication and installation ultimately changed little over time. "About 95 percent remained the same, so when Electrosonic executed the concept design, it all worked very smoothly," reports Electrosonic project manager Steve Calver.

The first five galleries, based on the original concept design pro

UK - Simple Minds, one of the biggest pop-rock bands of the eighties, is back with their sixteenth studio album, Big Music. Simple Minds are currently in the middle of a major UK and European tour, Big Music + Greatest Hits 2015. FoH engineer Olivier Gerard (aka Gg) has been working with Simple Minds since 2009. One of the key elements of his system setup on this tour (and indeed many others) is his Intelli-X 2 48 loudspeaker processor and system management device from Apex.

"On tour you need to be both reliable and efficient," explained Gerard. "That means you need good tools. The Intelli-X 2 is the equivalent of the Swiss army knife for FoH engineers - in other words, it does everything, and does it well! It's great to have in any situation, but it really comes into its own if you're touring a lot on house PA systems.

"It's all there, just a
