UK - CUK Audio has announced a series of training seminars across the UK and Ireland, to coincide with the release of the new X Series amplifier platform from Powersoft.

The amplifier platform is designed with the most advanced power supply present in any power amplifier, says the company. This is combined with the most powerful DSP platform, an impressive power density of 44,000 Watts in just 2U of rack space, and Dante enabled versions. CUK Audio advises there is much more, which will be revealed during the training. The training will be centred on the X Series, but will include training on Powersoft's Armonia amplifier control and monitoring software platform.

CUK Audio's MD, Stuart Thomson says, "We can guarantee it won't be a boring death by PowerPoint. Based around the new Powersoft X Series amplifier platform, the sessions will give a thorough introduction to the n

USA - Northern Colorado Cowboy Church, or N3C for short, is located in a former restaurant building in Lucerne, Colorado. Although a large number of cowboy boots walk through the door every Sunday, N3C is open to everyone. The "Cowboy" in its name reflects the church's down-to-earth attitude. As one might guess, services at N3C are lively and contemporary, with high-energy music complementing colourful sermons.

Although the church originally moved into the converted restaurant with a home-grown PA-on-sticks, N3C aspired to something with much greater musical impact and intelligibility to cover its five-hundred-plus seats. Local integration firm Audio Video Colorado designed and installed a new system centred on two Danley Sound Labs SM-60F full-range loudspeakers.

"They had a lot of complaints about intelligibility and the overall quality of the sound of the hom

Germany - After the operator of the Dresden theatre Wechselbad der Gefühle (Rollercoaster of Emotions) ceased operations in May 2014, TW.O GmbH took over the business of the operation, rebamed Boulevard Theatre Dresden. After a four-month renovation, operations in the listed building started again in September 2014.

In addition to the complete redesign of the auditorium, there were also heavy investments in the modernization of the stage and the entire theatre technology. Dutch manufacturer Alcons Audio pro-ribbon solutions were chosen for sound reinforcement.

"After many advisory discussions with sound engineers and other competent professionals, we organized test setups with different systems. The impressive performance of the Alcons systems and the professionalism of Event-net GmbH made it an easy decision", said Dan Becker, one of the directors of TW.O GmbH.

Czech Republic - German production house Showem is the latest company to invest in a Nexo STM M28 system, which made its inaugural appearance at the new Skoda Superb launch. Both the car and the modular line array system were unveiled at the Forum Karlin auditorium in Prague, where a stunning new symphony was premiered to 500 invited media guests.

The symphony, performed by a 50-piece orchestra, was written to symbolise a new era for the 120-year-old Czech car manufacturer, and this fresh approach extended to the choice of sound system used at the launch. Showem's technical production manager, Dieter Mantzel, wanted to mark the occasion with a different PA system to those typically used for new car launches, and Nexo STM was the number one choice.

"We'd been waiting for Nexo's new M28 modular line array, and this was the perfect opportunity to purchase it," says Show

UK - The new addition to Nexo's STM modular line array series, the compact M28, has been installed in La Belle Angele nightclub in Edinburgh.

Nexo has had a long history with the live music venue, which opened in 1992. For a decade, the original Nexo SI 2000 system provided sound for live acts including Oasis, The Libertines and Radiohead. Destroyed in 2002 by a fire which ravaged the Cowgate area of the city, the club's owner, Hafid Mahboubi, has fought a long and hard battle to have it rebuilt.

"After 13 years it was a great feeling to be able to return to the venue we built and bring it back to life," says George Macdonald, who worked as club promoter, resident DJ and technician at the club until the fateful fire. "I was lucky enough to be trained on the original Nexo system, and I have many fond memories of what we achieved with it. I ended up taking co-owne

The Day the Music Died - The Music Producers Guild is backing a campaign to ensure that songwriters get a larger share of royalty income generated by digital music sales. Spearheaded by the British Association of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and entitled The Day the Music Died, this initiative will focus on the role and importance of songwriters and composers in the digital music industry. It will press for three key actions - a 50/50 split of gross digital royalty income, the removal of auto-predictive search functionality in search engines, which point people to illegal content and a push for all digital advertising income to be paid to creators for all usage.

BASCA is also asking for more transparency around digital deals and is calling for improved regulation of illegal content on search engines, plus the easier removal of infringing websites and apps. P

UK - As one of the few UK partners selected to join the new Soundcraft Vi network, Liverpool-based Adlib has been consolidating its growing fleet of VI6 and Vi3000 consoles - for rental, sales and installation.

Confirms director Dave Kay, "The Soundcraft Vi series remains our first choice of console in view of its simplicity, reliability and usability. We provide regular training for potential users, backed up by a great service and support team."

Despite making an immediate commitment to the company's new Vi3000 hybrid - investing heavily for both sales and rental stock - he emphasises that the Vi6 shows no sign of letting up, even after eight years.

"This is because the software and feature set has evolved over the years, making it still very much a current product which continues to be specified," he says. "In 2015 we have already had the consoles

Germany - Martin Audio has released a teaser print image and an accompanying video for a new product launch under the banner of The shape of things to come.

The print image features a striking icon which is said to represent the driver of this yet unnamed product. The video is a little more revealing showing an 'old' loudspeaker exploding and the words scrolling on the screen, 'Time to break with convention, time to evolve, time for a new breed, a breed that delivers sound like never before' before revealing the shadowing outline of the new product and a driver echoing the icon from the print image.

Luke Ireland, managing director, said, "This new product range will feature groundbreaking technology that will further Martin Audio's credentials as the true innovator in the marketplace and will deliver our customers a clear competitive advantage. We are extremely exc

UK - Instantly memorable and clearly identifiable as emphatically live for reasons best forgotten, this year's Brit Awards proved the best yet for audio providers Britannia Row Productions Ltd (Britrow). "Every year we reflect on the show and make adjustments to improve the following year," said Britrow's Josh Lloyd who mixed FoH for all but Royal Blood. "You can always make improvements, that's part of the legacy that Derrick Zieba left for us. This year some new equipment added some genuine enhancement."

The essential dilemma of The Brits hasn't changed, the unrelenting demands of the camera lens dictate that sightlines shall always be clear so audio is rigged as high as possible, while down on the floor sit the assembled masses of the recording industry who know what good sound means and expect nothing less.

Bulgaria - Arena Sozòpol is one of the four venues that will host the 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Completed in plenty of time for the championship, the 4,000 seat stadium has undergone full reconstruction with new grandstands and amenities.

Sozòpol is an attractive ancient seaside town located 35 km south of Bulgaria's second largest city, Burgas, on the beautiful Black Sea Coast. It is one of the country's major seaside resorts, internationally known for the Apollonia art and film festival.

Burgas based Pro Audio Ltd was commissioned to design and install the audio for the new stadium. Stanislav Petrov, managing director of Pro Audio explained their design, "High intelligibility, even coverage and good sound levels with headroom were all main criteria, so Community's R Series were the natural first choice. Their accurate dispersion also avoids unnecessary

The company's CEO Bardy Hayes will oversee new sales opportunities from Global Market's California office, while Singapore-based Alex Schloesser will lead the technical support for current and future customers in the region.

"We have been following VUE Audiotechnik's progress with great enthusiasm since its launch," says Hayes. USA - The Grammy Awards, held annually at the Staples Centrein Los Angeles, recognises the recording industry's best artists.

As was the case in previous years, ATK Audiotek again relied heavily on a predominantly fibre optic-based network run on Optocore, for the recent 57th edition. For the last five Grammy Awards ATK Audiotek has used Optocore to transport the award winning music that is performed live at the show, this year including AC/DC, Beyon?e, Madonna, Katy Perry, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.

The complex nature of the Grammys, in conjunction with the 'mission critical' delivery aspect of a live event, defines the need for flexibility and absolute fault tolerance and recovery.

Jeff Peterson, the incumbent system PA designer for the award show, has relied on Optocore to deliver quality audio under these exacting conditions since 2011. This year's network drive system

Spain - The Fallas is the official festival of Valencia, which is celebrated from the 15-19 March. This event has become an important tourist attraction.

Besides of the name of the festivities, 'fallas' is also the name used to designate the thousand monuments which are located in Valencia city as well as in every town of the province. The 'fallas' consist of a figure or central composition of several feet high, surrounded by numerous figures of papier-mâché, supported by a wooden frame. They include signs written in Valencian explaining the meaning of each set, always with a critical and satirical angle.

One of the most important activities of this week is the 'mascletà', which is celebrated from 1-19 March, when the fallas are burned and the festivity ends. A 'mascletà' is a pyrotechnic fire which forms a very loud and rhythmic composition. Megafonía Torres, respo

UK - "We wanted to hear everything from those old synths, the highs, the lows, each uninvited rattle and hum... Flare gave us a truly dynamic sound, a perfect match for our ancient technology," said Mel Wesson of powerhouse electro quartet Node, as Flare Audio's PA system broadcast their first concert in 15 years.

The landmark concert Node Live took place in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall at the Royal College of Music in London on 27 February 2015, receiving acclaim from fans and across media reviews.

Flare was selected due to its "clarity of sound". The detailed ambient sonic landscape created by the band requires the clearest possible sound and definition with even coverage and dispersion, as they filled the stage with an array of instruments and vintage analogue synthesizers, creating both a sonic and visual experience for the audience.

USA - High school football is serious in Valdosta, Georgia. There, the Lowndes High School Vikings regularly fill 12,000-plus seat Martin Stadium and, far more often than not, prevail over their rivals. Lowndes has won five state championships - three of them within the last decade - and managed perfect seasons in 2004 and 2008. In fact, in 2008, ESPN ranked Lowndes as the #2 high school football program in the entire country. That's number two out of approximately 14,000 teams - no small feat.

To support the team and improve the game day experience for fans, the school raised funds for a new Jumbotron and, to go with it, a modern collegiate-grade sound reinforcement system. Ashly Audio NE Series signal processing and KLR-Series amplifiers support the new system, which provides extensive auto-mixing capabilities and, via a simple Ashly wall-mounted fader bank, intuitive control

UK / Germany - Sennheiser has been actively combating product piracy in a range of ways over several years. In late February, the company scored a further victory in this ongoing campaign, with the conviction of an online trader from Cricklewood, London who was caught selling counterfeit Sennheiser products. The offender was put on probation supervision and was given a community sentence.

The 31-year-old admitted selling counterfeit Sennheiser headphones with a total value of EUR 235,000 to over 7,000 online customers via Amazon. He was put on probation for nearly a year and will be required to complete 200 hours of community service. Moreover, legal action is now pending, and the trader may be held liable for damages. Sennheiser UK Ltd has supported the investigating authorities by providing significant information resources.

USA - The Audio Engineering Society hosted its 57th International Conference, titled The Future of Audio Entertainment Technology: Cinema, Television, and the Internet, in Hollywood, California, on 6-8 March 2015.

Co-chaired by Brian McCarty and Dr. Sean Olive, the conference was intended to stimulate increased dialogue between the Hollywood content creation community and the AES, and drew a substantial audience to the three-day programme, which was presented at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres.

Keynote addresses were given by noted industry professionals, including Dr. Floyd Toole, former AES president, Louis Hernandez Jr., Avid chairman and Francis Rumsey, chair of the AES Technical Council.

"The genesis of this conference came from the AES's realization that the largest group of working sound engineers is those that do sound for picture in some way. Over the last fe

USA - To commemorate the 150th Birthday of famed Danish composer Carl Nielsen, Denmark-based Dacapo Records is releasing The Nielsen Project, a collection of Nielsen's symphonies and concertos as performed by the New York Philharmonic.

During production, TimbreMusic tonemeister Mikkel Nymand, recording engineer on the project, relied on DPA Microphones' d:dicate 4015S Wide Cardioid and 4006A Omnidirectional Microphones to accommodate the unique audio requirements at Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center and to achieve a natural quality of the live ensemble.

As one of the most famous concert venues for classic performers, Fisher Hall has a history of presenting audio challenges for symphonic music, namely diffusions that fall short of producing a rich natural sound and an imperfect early reflection pattern. To account for this, Nymand tested the acoustics of the venue during pre

Korea - Allen & Heath's iLive digital system and GL2800 analogue mixer were installed in Korea's new Incheon Asiad stadium, built to host the 17th Asian Games.

Taking three years to construct, the gigantic stadium is capable of holding up to 62,000 people and was used for the Games main sporting events, as well as events before the Games, such as Korean Pop (K-POP) concerts. As many as 13,000 athletes from 45 countries competed.

The organiser was looking for a stable but flexible multi-purpose audio system, which would satisfy the need for both digital and analogue technology. Allen & Heath's South Korean distributor, Sama ProSound, suggested an iLive-144 Control Surface with iDR-48 MixRack to serve as the main system, with a GL2800 as the sub system.

"iLive was chosen because it has both the capability and flexibility to manage the audio system, and it can be controlle
