UK - Audient has appointed Daniel Mills as technical support agent to assist with questions from Audient owners new and old, and brings with him youth, a passion for sound synthesis, programming and in particular, an appreciation for great sounding recording.

"I love Audient after using the ASP8024 desk hooked up to a pair of Genelec monitors during a concert at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I'd never heard audio sound that good before," he says, adding: "I also love how that same sound can be squeezed into a box as small as the iD14 and ever since I've gotten my hands on one here at Audient, I've been playing as much music through it as I possibly can."

Germany - The Sennheiser Group has presented its annual results for fiscal year 2014, showing a rise of 44.3 million euros to 634.8 million euros over the previous year - an increase of around 7.5 percent. Net earnings also increased by 20.4 million euros to a total of 34.7 million euros. The company, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2015, grew in all regions worldwide - and Sennheiser significantly increased its sales in Asia and Australia in particular, the company reports.

With this further increase in sales revenue in fiscal year 2014, the Sennheiser Group is sustaining the continuous rise in sales seen in recent years. "We are very pleased to see a new record result," said Dr. Frank Heinricht, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG. "The positive sales development in all regions has once again confirmed the strate

USA - NYC's Marriott Edition Hotel is one of the latest projects created by US entrepreneur Ian Schrager, who originally rose to fame as co-owner and co-founder of Studio 54 in the late 1970s. To take care of the audio solution, Schrager's director of development, Michael Overington, enlisted the services of Ernie Lake's specialist AV firm, EL Media Group.

"We knew exactly what was needed from the start. Working in cooperation with Schrager's designers and the head of branding, Ben Pundole, we were asked to put together a system able to handle a DJ and other general audio duties, which could perform well and at different levels. Quality and even sound dispersion were an absolute must," says Lake. "The client also requested remote access for volume and source."

Sweden - Electronic dance musicians Join The Riot are recording their debut album for all to see in a glass box in the middle of the Swedish capital, Stockholm, this month, using an Audient ASP4816 analogue mixing console.

The five-piece band have commandeered the display window of a hotel situated on the corner of one of Stockholm's busiest streets, built a studio in it, and are spending the whole of July working on the album, in what they have aptly named A Glass Cage Of Emotions. Throughout the month passers-by can watch what's going on through the many windows and even listen to their sessions via headphones on the street.

"We've been working on the album for a little over a year, and figured that when it came to recording it, collaborating with the Scandic Malmen hotel to promote its music profile at the same time as our new album, would be much better than re

Italy - An Allen & Heath iLive digital system recently managed FOH and monitor sound for the Campana & Sonus Percussioni Ketoniche, an Italian musical project utilising synthesizers with traditional and unusual percussion instruments.

Comprising an iLive-T112 surface with iDR-48 MixRack at both FOH and monitor position networked via MADI, the system managed a range of percussion instruments including 20 church bells, 20 cowbells from Sardinia and Lucanian, an Italian sound sculpture, iron and steel drums, disc brakes, shock absorbers, trusses, pans, bells mounted on bicycle wheels, 12 congas, a batà, digeridoo, marimba, five pairs of bongos, and over 30 drums.

Francesco Apolloni, FOH engineer and technical manager, explains, "The technical equipment for Campana & Sonus is quite complex as there are nearly 60 sound sources to manage. Musicians are constantly changing posi

UK - Forty years on from their seminal hit album Sheet Music, 10cc have been on the road touring throughout the UK, culminating in a show at the Royal Albert Hall. The band's FOH engineer and tour manager for the last three years, Jon Sword, chose to run the musically complex and sonically demanding show on Cadac's flagship digital sound touring console, the CDC eight-32.

Phil McDaniel of rental company ESS suggested Sword try out the new Cadac desk. "The great thing about Cadac products is that they sound amazing; they're known for really great sound quality. 10cc were pioneers of studio production in the 70s and their work still has to stand up in concert halls now; everything has to be heard with this band," says Sword. "I never get feedback with this desk; it just sounds so musical. It gives me the best clarity with the least effort, allowing me to mix,

USA Despite frontman Dave Grohl's broken leg, - Foo Fighters are now on the 43-date North American leg of their Sonic Highways tour, which "kicked off" - with the singer/guitarist seated on a massive motorized throne - 4 July at Washington, D.C.'s RFK Stadium. Accompanying the band on this latest stretch running through November is an L-Acoustics K1/K2 PA system fielded by Delicate Productions, which has been Foo Fighters' SR vendor for the past five years.

"We have partnered with Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Special Event Services (SES) for the K1 enclosures," says president Jason Alt, noting that Delicate has taken the same approach for tours in the past based on the broad acceptance of L-Acoustics' K1 system. In fact, Alt's success with K1 prompted him to order a K2 system for his own company.

UK - Yamaha's new Rivage PM10 digital console made its UK trade show debut at the ABTT Theatre Show in late June. Although appearing with comparatively little fanfare, the console was in constant demand throughout the show as rental companies, dealers, sound designers and operators were keen to get up close and personal with the company's new flagship.

A regular stream of suitors kept Yamaha technicians Andy Cooper and Wayne Powell busy showing people over Rivage PM10 throughout the event. But, demonstrating how Yamaha has built a new range of consoles to suit every production type, size and budget, the new TF series was also the subject of much hands-on attention.

"The first thing that struck us about the PM10 was how clear, uncluttered and solid it felt. It's beautifully designed, more like the interior of a premium car than a mixing console." says Chris Headlam, m

Sweden - For the 2015 Sweden Rock Festival, production manager Pelle Aberg selected a Meyer Sound Leo linear large-scale sound reinforcement system for the main stage to support headliners such as Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Slash, and Toto. The system provided the crew with excellent coverage control, while eliminating the need for delay towers.

"I talked to many sound engineers that I trust about our options, and I decided to go all the way on our biggest stage with Leo," says Aberg. "We have very strict limits on sound outside the festival grounds, with fines for any breaches, so we needed a system that could effectively cover large areas at high levels, but with precise control. The LEO system achieved this goal - I could hear clear, powerful music all the way to the back of the huge crowd."

Germany - Some 90,000 people descended on Rock am Ring in Mendig in western Germany last month for the festival's 30th anniversary in a new location. Attendances hit record levels to see headline acts Slipknot, Foo Fighters, Motorhead and In Flames amongst others. With over 150 bands playing over three days, festival-goers were spoilt for choice.

Southside, which took place in Tuttlingen in southern Germany, featured over 100 bands but with a distinctly more "alternative pop/rock" flavour. This time, around 60,000 fans turned out over three days to enjoy the music and a mix of sunshine and rain. DirectOut was on hand for the duration of both festivals to ensure seamless audio transmission from the stage to OB van for regional public broadcaster SWR.

UK - Allen & Heath's modular iLive digital mixing system was employed to manage FOH for the recent production of Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia, taking place at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

A classical reworking of The Who's 1970s album, Townshend's production featured the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Oriana Choir, and guest singers Billy Idol, Phil Daniels and Alfie Boe.

"The brief was to emulate the Quadrophenia studio album, and provide clean, open sound, so I knew I had to choose iLive because it fits the bill exactly - it has a very open, clean sound, great audio processing, is super flexible, networkable, and is customisable so I can make it work for me, rather than the other way round. With an 80-strong orchestra, 90-strong choir and various guest celebrity singers, there was a lot going on, so iLive is just what I needed,"

Germany - With new opening times, a new hall layout and a new "Education and Associations" area, it's all-change for Prolight+Sound 2016. Taking place at Messe Frankfurt from 5 to 8 April 2016, the exhibition is moving to the eastern part of the expansive venue. Here it will occupy six halls, two outdoor arenas, a new indoor arena and a new, bigger outdoor area all targeting specific themes.

Organisers comment: "At last year's event more than 900 exhibitors welcomed over 42,000 visitors to their booths. In 2016, we are moving to the east of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre in order to accommodate our increase in size. Prolight+Sound is the perfect industry forum for face-to face discussions and for developing your business networks. Benefit, too, from the synergies of the parallel Musikmesse and meet the right target groups for you."

USA - Following the completion of the 2015 cycle of PLASA Focus events in Orlando and Kansas City, a full review was undertaken to ascertain the progress and success of the PLASA events produced in the North American market over the last 4 years. While some progress had been achieved over this period it was decided that significant change was necessary to create an event that better satisfied the business needs of the exhibitors, creating a profitable event for all those involved.

To fully explore and understand the changes necessary the decision of the PLASA Governing Body and the PLASA Executive Management has been to take a hiatus from producing new events in 2016.

The Jane serves a mix of fine dining and music in a relaxed atmosphere, set against the backdrop of a stunningly renovated church.

UK - The London FolkFest 2015 recently took place at The Bedford in Balham. It was the fifth year for this boutique festival, which has grown into a four-day event with more than 50 acts playing across three stages all under one roof.

This year, The Bedford worked closely with Shure Distribution to provide a whole range of microphones and DI's that could cover every kind of voice and instrument.

Head engineer, Phil Davidson said, "The beta98a was a stand out for me. Its external preamp design makes the microphone very small, so no matter where it was placed, it was completely unobtrusive for both the musicians and the audience. The inherent design, coupled with the incredible sound quality, made it an invaluable tool, and throughout our four day festival, I used it on a huge range of instruments, including acoustic guitars, drums, accordions and cellos."

Posh, the production manager for The Rabbit Hole, explains that "our music is primarily house-based dance, and we have live bands with DJs in between, so the sound system is integral to the success of the venue. Nexo's STM set-up looks as though it's not going to do that much but, when you turn it on, it does an awful lot."

Set up as a quad system, STM modules were groundstacked in the corners of the venue. Each stack comprised
