Michael Breen, CEO at Media Powerhouse Group.
UK - Media Powerhouse, one of the UK's leading AV rental services companies, has announced that Special Project Solutions (Special Projects) has joined the Group. Special Projects is a problem solving company whose services span the entertainment and industrial sectors, covering technical project management, design translation, bespoke fabrication and mechanical and lifting solutions. Being a part of Media Powerhouse Group will strengthen the specialist technical management and system integration expertise in both companies, say Media Powerhouse.

Special Projects was formed in 2007 by directors Tim Roffey and David Green. Prior to forming the company, Roffey, one of the country's top experts in entertainment rigging and installation, spent 10 years at Unusual Rigging where he managed the worldwide tour of Mamma Mia! and engineering projects such as Old Trafford's Quadrant development and the O2 Arena's emergency evacuation systems installation. Green has over 15 years' industry experience and prior to teaming up with Roffey worked as a technical project manager. He has been involved with many high profile events around the world for clients in the motor and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in government.

Tim Roffey commented: "The decision to join the Media Powerhouse team was an easy one to make. It is staffed by many of the most respected and capable specialists for video, lighting, staging and audio in the industry. We were also encouraged by the level of investment the company has continued to make in the latest equipment. The exceptional capabilities and resources from Media Powerhouse will enable us to offer an enhanced service to all our clients and help grow both businesses." Roffey added: "I must confess that on first visiting the Group's warehouse and scenic workshop at Elstree Film Studios I was surprised to see the extensive array of equipment the Group now own and they have further warehousing in SE1!"

Recent projects supported by Special Projects include the Red Bull F1 Party following their successful season; Frieze Art Fair and the English National Opera's collaboration with Theatre Complicité on a Dog's Heart. For the third year in a row, Special Projects was also contracted to install the exterior Christmas decorations at Westfield London which included over 200 light curtains, 3500m of tree lighting, 65 star and snowflake motifs and 200 LED crystal drops.

Michael Breen, Chief Executive Officer at Media Powerhouse said: "Special Projects' capabilities in technical project management and design coupled with the specialist expertise that Roffey, Green and their team bring will strengthen Media Powerhouse's comprehensive client offering. It is our investment in the very best of both equipment and people that have helped us stay one step ahead of the competition and this acquisition of Special Projects will help us to stay there."
