Since its launch, the original SmarTmast has been enormously successful, and has been used for a myriad of events from the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations to the Henley Arts Festival, the Kenwood House summer season and many more. The SmarTmast2, constructed from robust 30cm square aluminium trussing, has been developed to offer greater height and weight capacity - a 2,000kg load at up to 12m. All this on an expedient footprint of just 4m wide by 5m deep. The system is stabilized at ground level by two specially cast ballast blocks on the back of the base structure.
The product was developed by Summit in conjunction with its structural engineers who have prepared a full structural report and stability calculations. The new masts can accommodate up to 16 V-Dosc (or equivalent) cabinets - twice as many as the original SmarTmast, making them ideal as main PA supports for medium and larger-sized shows. Available in black or silver, the SmarTmast2 is self-contained and, self erecting, using a sheer leg system. The chain hoist used during this process is then utilized to lift the PA cabinets, so the only plant required is a suitable forklift or telehandler.
At Leeds Castle, the SmarTmast2s supported the main PA arrays - 16 boxes a side of Nexo Geo Tangent supplied by RG Jones - with two SmarTmasts used for delay hangs.
