The Young Vic is one of the most creative venues in the UK having been completely refurbished over the last two years. TRP worked in close collaboration with the Young Vic management and technical team on this important project that will secure the versatility and functionality of the theatre for years to come.
TRP were contracted to design, supply and install 25 bespoke lockable travelling spreader-beams, which provide suspension points to any position in the auditorium. These spreader beams are telescopic, removable and are mounted on the toes of the main house beams so that they can move past spreader beams mounted in adjacent bays. TRP also supplied and installed 28 D8+ 500kg Verlinde Stagemaker chain hoists and control for general use in the main auditorium and for suspending the new truss grids in the studios. Over 125m of Milos truss was installed in the two studios, along with over 90m of Unicyc tab track for black taps in both studios.
Managing director Gavin Weatherall says: "TRP pride themselves in being both enthusiastic and sympathetic to West End Theatres, our thorough understanding of both the requirements of the in house technical team and the creative team fundamental to our pro-active approach to solution provision. We endeavour that all our projects are thought through with the prerequisites of Health and Safety, modularity and long term legacy as key elements."
