Previously, Kirby spent two years in California as US national sales manager for Renkus-Heinz Inc, and five years at BSS Audio, latterly as sales manager. At BSS, Kirby worked alongside Turbosound's European sales manager, Dominic Harter, and UK and Asia sales manager, Tim McCall. This new position reunites the old team. Kirby's long-standing career in the industry includes due-paying time on the road with rental companies, and he steps into the role at Turbosound vacated by Bill Woods, following Woods' departure to New York a few months ago.
Kirby commented: "I've known and respected Turbosound for many years, having been closely involved with the company's earlier technology while working for rental companies in the past - I've lifted it, lugged it and rigged it! Having known both Dominic and Tim previously, this is a very comfortable and natural transition for me - a bit like coming home. Turbosound is at an extremely exciting point in its development, and the sheer enthusiasm that pervades the whole company made this new role an irresistible opportunity. All the people at Turbosound have a genuine desire to excel in what they do, and produce the products that customers need - this is evident across R&D, production, sales and marketing, and customer support."
He continued: "From a sales point of view, the current product portfolio could hardly be bettered - with the new top-end Aspect series, plus the successful QLight and TXD ranges - making the Turbosound brand such a strong proposition for a distributor. I may be back in the land of warm, flat beer, and Worthing beach isn't quite like California, but I'm very pleased to be here!"
