The main concert hall
Denmark - Located on the waterfront of Aalborg and with a panoramic view of the Liim Fiord, you will find Musikkens Hus (House of Music) - the new musical gathering point of Northern Denmark and an architectural gem, designed by the internationally acknowledged architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au.

Nordic systems integrator Exton was awarded the tender for sound and communications. The project required over 20 kilometres of premier quality audio and video cables which was supplied by London cable specialists VDC Trading.

Exton's veteran project manager, Gunnar Gunnarsson, opted to work with VDC Trading given their dedication to quality, reliable logistics and excellent service. For all the audio and video applications, Exton used a variety of Van Damme cable including Purple, Brown and Black series.

VDC Trading chairman Niall Holden commented, "Once more it was a pleasure to work with Exton on this prestigious project. Exton has grown to become an international systems integrator of considerable renown and I am delighted that they continue to find Van Damme cable the right product for their needs."

The new building has more than 20,000 m2 at its disposal, divided between nine storeys and is home to the Aalborg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Music Conservatory of Aalborg, as well as the Institute of Music of Aalborg University and the Danish Jazz History Centre. In addition, Musikkens Hus contains four different concert halls with a capacity of up to 1,299 seats, an inviting restaurant and an educational section, with studios and rehearsal rooms.

In the main auditorium - a 1,200 capacity concert hall - the sound system consists of Tannoy's Qflex series speakers, backed by Meyer Sound UPJuniors for stage lip and QSC ILAs for under-balcony reinforcements. The system is driven by Meyer Sound's Galileo Loudspeaker Management System. HD quality pictures are distributed from each hall over the facility's IPTV network, so that performers and the public alike can monitor the action in real-time.
