Spain - London and Dubai-based event design, technical and scenic production company Maestra Group is opening an office in Barcelona this September.
The new base is being launched in response to Maestra’s increased involvement in live events across Europe, particularly in key areas of Spain, the South of France and the Italian Riviera. Maestra Barcelona will be located 20 minutes from the city centre and 10 minutes from El Prat International Airport.
Company directors Tom Clements and Justin Hammond will oversee the launch. Clements comments: “Strategically, it’s a great base for servicing events across the whole of Europe and ensuring that we stay competitive and dynamic in a fast-moving world of product launches, conferences and events.”

UK - Production company SFL has just completed the AV requirements for Christopher Wheeldon’s staging of Cinderella by the English National Ballet (ENB) and The Royal Albert Hall, staged at the RAH.
“The project was 18 months in the planning,” explains SFL director, Craig Lawrence. “ENB’s technical director, George Thomson, was looking to stage a large-scale production in-the-round. The production required many different changes of scene and the use of projection seemed the obvious answer. English National Ballet had never worked with projection on such a large scale before so turned to SFL to provide that experience.”

Europe - Following the success of two acclaimed, chart topping albums, singer-songwriter George Ezra continues the momentum with a sold-out UK and European arena tour (see LSi May 2019).
Created around a concept devised by Ezra himself, the aim of the production was to bring an intimacy to arenas, as if inviting the audience into the artist’s living room, with the show tracking his day from sunrise to sunset.

Europe - Muse have embarked on their Simulation Theory’ World Tour in support of their eighth studio album. The tour began in February 2019 in Houston, Texas, playing 53 dates across North America, Europe, Asia and South America before concluding in Santiago, Chile in October 2019. A disguise gx 2 media server, provided by PRG, drives video and real-time Notch content for the show, which is currently on its European leg, playing at stadium venues.

“We had just a seven-day turnaround to design and deliver the camera and screens package to Savoretti’s tour team, managed by production manager Neil Anderson,” explains Pete McCrea, Production AV MD. “As this was the big one - Wembley - they wanted to ramp up the production and include video to enhance the audience experience. David McIntyre had created a real visual spectacular with the lighting, and they wanted to enhance this by relaying live on-stage footage as well as pre-recorded content to two large IMAG screens.”

UK - Cheltenham’s annual Science Festival arrived in June to explore the weird, wacky and wonderful. Production AV was commissioned to design, supply and operate the high-end screen, projection and sound solutions that formed the foundation of the multiple zones that were created in the specially built Festival Village.
Hundreds of events took place over the six-day festival, with more than 280 ‘experts’ imparting knowledge, prompting discussion and provoking thought to thousands of visitors, including more than 9,000 school children.

The new LED products, named Amber and Jasper, are designed to serve the market for fixed installation and AV integration.
Based on its experience with LED screens used in the live event industry ROE Visual has based the range on its philosophy of providing adaptable products that offer excellent visual quality and are easy to install, maintain and use.
Amber is designed for environments where excellent visuals count. “Installing a fine pitch video screen in exacting environments, like corporate boardrooms, broadcast studios or control rooms just got easier with the Amber LED panels,” says the company.
