UK / Spain - Xtreme Audio Visual, the Clacton-on-Sea-based sound and lighting installation company which won the key contract to fit out the Guru superclub in Valencia, has created a new open-air dance terrace at the venue, featuring an ElectroVoice dancefloor system in keeping with Guru's use of EV and Dynacord products throughout the venue. All EV and Dynacord product was supplied by Shuttlesound, the UK distributor, to Xtreme AV.

Nirvana, the latest space, has been created by removing all the walls, leaving just the roof so that it works as a covered terrace. The VIP room has been integrated with the terrace, and both areas are integrated with the rest of Guru's rooms via the BSS Soundweb network which Xtreme installed last year. There is an ElectroVoice RX system for the main dancefloor, featuring four RX218s and four RX212s, two RX112s and four RX115s. This system is powered by EV's P3000 RL amplifiers, which Xtreme has specified throughout Guru. For the exterior areas, on the balcony where there are tables and a waterfall, Xtreme has used EViD 6.2s, EV's highly stylised compact full-range units.

More EV speakers can be found in the DJ booth, where RX112s are used for monitors, beside Technics decks and a Pioneer DJM600 mixer. David Morales was expected to celebrate the official opening of this, the last project at the Guru location. Finishing the open-air terrace means that Xtreme's work at Guru is finally complete. In the last year, the British company has delivered an outstanding series of high-quality club installations, all on one site. In addition to providing systems with serious sonic performance, Xtreme has also cracked some vital issues of service and maintenance.

The club's sound systems are all driven by ElectroVoice's Precision Series Remote Amplifiers. More than 50 units are, according to Craig Wiggins of Xtreme Audio Visual, the key to the whole project, allowing them to monitor the system in real time during an event and carry out system checks from the UK office every week. "Using these remote amps and the IRIS management system, we can provide a comprehensive and intelligent maintenance service from the UK. We can phone up the club, dial into each individual amp and find out what impedance is at the end of the line. We've set up the IRIS software to show us a little green LED for every speaker position: if there's a problem, we'll know almost before they do because the computer is on-line 24/7. The control that we have with these amps is phenomenal."
