USA - Harman Professional Division has confirmed the integration of Martin Professional US operations into its organization effective immediately.

The combining of Harman and Martin will result in operational efficiencies, including the closure of Martin's operations in Sunrise, Florida. The company will maintain a strong sales and product support presence in the Fort Lauderdale area and all staff from the facility have been offered positions within the Harman Professional organization, says the company.

USA - Following in the footsteps of Coachella, the 12th annual Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival doubled its attendance at Zilker Park this year by expanding its usual three-day concert to two identical line-ups on consecutive weekends in early October. For sound reinforcement duties on one of the festival's largest stages - known as AMD on the first weekend and Lady Bird on the second - Houston-based LD Systems chose to deploy a full L-Acoustics K1 loudspeaker system.

Out of the more than 140 groups performing at this year's ACL Music Festival, AMD/Lady Bird hosted some of the biggest headliners, including Depeche Mode, The Cure, Vampire Weekend, fun., The National, Passion Pit and Atoms For Peace, featuring members of Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beck.

USA - The systems design and integration experts at Clearwing Productions last year overhauled the Phoenix Zoo's annual seasonal spectacular ZooLights, transforming a linear roadside display into an immersive, 360-degree audio and lighting experience that encircled the zoo's central water lagoon. The advanced audio system from Technomad performed so well that zoo officials opted to use the system year round, delivering multi-zone background and event music to visitors across the lagoon area.

The Phoenix Zoo initially hired Clearwing Productions to increase the production value of the annual lighting show, though the two teams quickly determined that the audio system was underperforming ­- not to mention falling apart.

Denmark - Martin Professional, Kollision and Transform Architects have completely refurbished the exterior of the Confederation of Danish Industry building in Copenhagen, which now boasts a beautiful façade, highlighted by an ever-changing LED media surface for a more engaging and emotional presence.

The location of the building was the main reason for a media façade solution, as it sits in Copenhagen at Rådhuspladsen, where outdoor advertising has been an integral part of the area for more than 100 years.

Transform architect Lars Bendrup said, "This LED media façade was the next logical step. It's an entirely new way of communicating through the language of light. Confederation of Danish Industry is showing a new face - one that reflects dynamism and change."

Korea - Reputed to be the largest Presbyterian church in the world, Myoungseong (Myungsung) Church recently built a new main sanctuary next to its original building in Seoul, South Korea. Now able to host up to 7000 worshippers at a time, a pair of DiGiCo SD7 consoles are an integral part of its services.

Established by pastor Kim Sam-Hwan in 1980, Myoungseong is one of the best known churches in South Korea. Services are broadcast in real time to a number of other church buildings throughout the country and are also broadcast on the internet, Christian radio and television stations in other territories. Egypt - At the new Hard Rock Cafe Nabq in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheik resort area, a Meyer Sound JM-1P arrayable loudspeaker system combines power and precision coverage control to offer a superior guest experience. All audio systems were provided and installed by Cairo-based Modern Touch.

"The ceilings in the main room are over eight meters high at some points, and the dance floor is under a dome," notes Magued Makram, president of Modern Touch. "It was very hard to generate the high SPLs we wanted without hitting reflective walls and the ceiling. Italy - Robe LEDWash 1200s and LEDBeam 100s were specified by Italian TV lighting designer Sandro Carotenuto for the live shows in the latest Made in Sud comedy series. These were recorded in the 600 capacity Auditorium venue at the RAI TV channel's headquarters in Naples.

Made in Sud showcases the very best cutting-edge and emerging young comedy talent in the south of Italy, with the final episodes in each run of programmes recorded live.

Carotenuto - who has worked for RAI for 30 years and currently lights shows and events for their OB Unit all over Italy - used 35 LEDWash 1200s to illuminate the audience in this instance.

The 30 x LEDBeam 100s were used in two 6x9 matrixes either side of the upstage LED screens. They provided intense back-beam effects for certain camera shots - for which they were highly effective.

The three day event brought guests through meetings and seminars in Copenhagen and at DPA's headquarters in Allerød as well as on a tour of DPA's production facility in Asnaes.

During the facility tour, guests were given an exclusive look at the processes involved in making a DPA Microphones product. Culminating in a live, hands-on workshop at the Nørrebro Theatre in Copenhagen, attendees were presented with demonstrations by a singer/actor and a band of DPA's collection of microphones.

UK - Liverpool based Adlib renewed its long standing working relationship with No1 selling UK singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ellie Goulding on the latest UK leg of her Halcyon Days tour, to which they supplied a Coda Audio sound system.

Ellie Goulding's engineers are Oz Bagnall (FOH) and James Neale (Monitors). Oz specified the Coda Audio system, which once again proved to be a flexible solution for the wide variety of theatre and town hall venues.

It was the first time that Adlib has worked with Bagnall and also with tour/production manager Derek Fudge, proving a very positive experience all round. Adlib's crew - systems engineer George Puttock and stage monitor technician Alan Harrison - were also a big part of ensuring that Ellie Goulding's performance had the best possible live sound.
