UK - E//T//C UK supplied widescreen projection for the RBI Achievement Awards event at Grosvenor House, London for producer Tom Perkins and his client, Reed Business International. After delivering a highly successful circular 'in-the-round' projection for Perkins earlier in the year at the same venue, E//T//C was asked to come up with a new video solution for the RBI event.

E//T//C supplied two of their new Christie 25K HD projectors, two Barco R18 projectors and an OnlyView control system for the show. The projectors were positioned side by side on the balcony of the main room at Grosvenor House, their images soft-edged together to form one large super-bright 70ft wide by 18ft deep image in 16:9 format.

Using OnlyView, E//T//C created 'windows' in the main screen for playback and IMAG video footage (projected via the R18s) to appear during the speech section of the evening,

Dubai - Following hot on the heels of the Dubai Desert Rock Festival, Shakira's sell-out concert at Dubai Autodrome has provided the curtain raiser for this year's Event 360 expo at PALME Middle East. Event 360 Exhibition Manager Jonathan Gadalla says that when the recent Dubai Philharmonic Orchestra concerts and Dubai Jazz Festival are added in, it illustrates just how far the industry in the region has developed.

"The Philharmonic Orchestra shows at the new Festival City recorded a huge turnout, indicating a real interest in the classical music market," he said. "On top of that, 25,000 people attended the Jazz Festival. It is evident from this that whether the music is classical, Latin American, heavy metal or jazz the level of appreciation is now unprecedented."

Some of the magic of show production will be introduced to the Dubai International Exhibition

China - Prolight + Sound Shanghai which takes place 17-20 October 2007, will double in size and scale to occupy two halls at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. New sports facilities, clubs, hotels, airports, theme parks, broadcasting stations, and entertainment venues are springing up right across the country, creating strong demand for pro-sound, lighting and entertainment products. This is demonstrated by the fact that over 12,000 professional visitors - including retailers, dealers, distributors, technicians, engineering contractors and stage & lighting designers - attended the show in 2006.

Remote units are wired in a loop configuration and it is possible to have a number of disabled refuge remotes, fire telephones or toilet alarms all on the same loop. Germany - Pro Light + Sound 2007 saw induction loop manufacturer, Ampetronic, launch its new Field Strength Meter, billed as a cost effective and simple solution for measuring, setting up and commissioning an induction loop system to the requirements of IEC60118-4.

"IEC60118-4 is the reference to which every induction loop installation should be tested," explains Julian Pieters, Ampetronic's managing director. "This has recently been revised and is currently being published around the world. The new revision places more stringent and specific requirements on installers, as well as on facilities managers, etc to set up, commission and maintain their loop systems.

"Many installers are tempted to cut corners and not do this testing properly, largely due to a lack of knowledge and the cost and the complexity of test equipment. We are tackling the lack of knowle

Germany - Now under the Bosch umbrella, EVI Audio came up with a new concept for its presentation at this year's ProLight+Sound in Frankfurt. This included a live stage and a new open-plan booth design. The predominantly white décor combined with the lavish dimensions of the booth to create a sense of light and space, symbolising the birth of a new era that began with the acquisition of former parent company Telex by Bosch in September of last year, says the company.

Robert Pletz, marketing services Europe, who was responsible for the trade fair presentation, points out: "Although the booth had a fresh new look to it, we remained faithful to the values for which we are known and the strategies that have served us so well in the past. Never before, in fact, have we applied our adage The demo makes the sale quite as consistently as we did this year."
