Delegates were treated to a humorous but well-informed and interactive three hours by Artistic Licence Engineering's R&D manager, Tim Baarsch. During this time, they were taken step-by-step through the protocol communications, providing them with a solid basis from which to use DMX and RDM with confidence.

Attended by a broad spectrum of designers, technicians and architects, the session covered the history and workings of DMX and RDM, with liberal input from delegates who were free to ask questions throughout. The knowledgeable interjections from fellow delegates and DMX guru Adam Bennette added value to the wealth of information delivered by Baarsch.

"Orders have been coming in since the show opened" said David Faulkes, sales director. "We have been particularly busy with sales of LED lighting, both static and automated, from orders received during and after the show."

The new industry-led training centre, based at the LS-Live rehearsal studios in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, registered the interest of over 250 students who visited the stand between 11-14 September. The Academy received enquiries relating to its many short courses in backstage skills, Apple-based technologies or Avid training.

On the White Light booth, i-Pix will be showing their new LED Beamlight, which surprised and delighted many on its first appearance at the PLASA Show in London in September. The fixture offers a new, low-energy alternative to the classic ACL effect, and is described by i-Pix as being "unlike any other LED fixture you have ever seen".
