Slovenia - The Red Summer Party was enjoyed by 12,000 dance enthusiasts who had the house rocked for them by the likes of Dutch house guru Tiesto and the super-hot Calvin Harris at the Arena Stožice in Ljubljana.

Lighting rental company Event Lighting ensured that the whole experience was made extra special for all involved, with Robe moving lights filling up most of the rig and a production design by LD Uroš Vovk

The Robe count of over 75 units included 18 Robin 600 LEDWashes, 30 ColorSpot 1200E ATs, 12 ColorSpot 700E ATs and 16 ColorSpot 575E ATs. These were positioned all around the venue on a series of over-stage trusses and a box truss over the crowd. The LEDWash 600s were all on the stage floor.

Event Lighting has been investing in Robe for the last eight years, and continues to do so because of the reliability and performance of the brand.

London Calling - More than 12m people have taken part in the London 2012 Festival - the cultural programme of the Olympics - according to organisers. Their figures are based on ticket sales, attendance figures and surveys of the UK population. Approximately 2.9m took part in a mass bell-ringing session on the opening day of the games. A further 9.6m visited free events like Radio 1's Hackney Weekend and the Tate Modern's oil tanks. Festival director Ruth MacKenzie, said she was "delighted" and that audience numbers were "well ahead of expectations".

UK - The ETC Source Four 'classic' incandescent spotlight will be 20 years old in autumn and has now shipped 3m units. Introduced at the 1992 LDI tradeshow and sweeping that year's product awards, the fixture is now a mainstay of conventional lighting in rigs everywhere.

USA - Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's Wrecking Ball tour continues to roll across the country with three Manon, eight Topaze, and four Lancelot followspots from Robert Juliat. The Boss is touring in support of his 17th studio album, also called Wrecking Ball, with an electrifying series of concerts featuring a number of technical innovations.

Robert Juliat followspots first went on tour with Bruce Springsteen in 2007, on the Magic tour. Lighting designer, Jeff Ravitz, of Intensity Advisors in North Hollywood, California, wanted to use Manon and Topaze spots in the truss for their optical quality but he also needed the spots to have electronic power supplies to insure there were no frequency interference issues with the video system on the tour. UK - Bow Arts Trust, the East London arts educational charity, is the recipient of the first major installation of Artistic Licence Engineering's new modular Multichrome Tube LEDfixtures.

Integration company, Technical Entertainment Services, which specialises in architectural LED feature lighting, was commissioned by Bow Arts Trust to refurbish its permanent installation of vertical tubes of light which are suspended over the public walkway between its two buildings on Bow Road.

"Bow Arts Trust wanted to replace the existing fluorescent tubes with an LED alternative which would better comply with their environmental concerns, and offer extended lamplife with reduced maintenance and running costs," explains TES technical director, Matthew Owen.

UK - West London based Entec Sound & Light supplied a substantial stage, architectural and garden lighting package to the 2012 Larmer Tree Festival, staged in the picturesque environs of Larmer Tree Gardens at Tollard Royal, south Wiltshire.

It's the seventh year that Entec has been involved with providing lighting the popular boutique festival, set in the environment originally created by prominent Victorian, Lieutenant-General Augustus Henry Lane Fox Pitt Rivers, and opened as the first private gardens for 'public enjoyment' in the UK.

The Entec crew of five was led by Richard Hutton. The equipment and designs covered five principal music stages of various sizes and a theatre / club space located in England's oldest corrugated iron building.

UK - During PLASA 2012, Spotlight will be exhibiting its new LED products from the Green Line range. Slovakia - PR Lighting fixtures have appeared on the biggest DJ festival to take place in the Slovak and Czech Republics.

The Chinese manufacturer's territory representatives, Techhouse, ensured that the portfolio was well represented at the Bee Free (free festival) after taking on the distributorship at the end of last year.

"The quality of the products is vital to us, and we are delighted when that is matched by the price," states CEO, Stefan Kollar. "When we purchased the first samples of the lights at the end of 2011, we were positively surprised by the quality and reliability."

They had no hesitation in recommending them to the event, which was again held at Aiport Pieštany, and attended by around 20,000 visitors. Organised by teams from Storm Promotion and KuulFabrik, every year more than 150 DJ's perform on five stages.

Ukraine - A Jands Vista L5 was chosen by lighting and visuals designer, Rob Sinclair, to control lighting and media for British rock legends, Queen. Their recent string of high profile shows featured American Idol star Adam Lambert as lead singer.

The first highly anticipated show truly tested everyone's technical and creative skills. Performed in front of enormous crowds (estimated at up to 500,000 people) in Independence Square, Kiev, Ukraine - the concert was televised live as part of the Euro 2012 Football Championships as well as streamed online.

Although Sinclair has been a keen Vista user for a number of years, this was his first experience using the new flagship L5 console. Choosing to do so on a show of such stature and visibility was a real testament to his confidence in the reliability and flexibility of the Vista family.

Israel - Television lighting designer Ofer Jacobi specified Robe Robin MMX Spots together with LEDWash 1200 and 600s for the latest series of Dancing With The Stars, Israel's version of BBC Worldwide's massively successful Strictly Come Dancing now in its seventh series..

Jacobi has lit all seven editions of the show to date, and each one has featured Robe moving lights.

However this was the first time that any of his lighting designs have included MMX Spots and Robin 1200 LEDWashes - all of which are supplied by Danor Rental.

Dancing With The Stars is recorded in Studio 1 of the GG Studio Complex in Jerusalem, the country's largest TV production facility.

USA - grandMA2 has gone country playing key roles on the Brothers of the Sun tour, with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, and at CMA Music Festival, which held concerts at Nashville's LP Field.

"I've been one of the beta testers for the grandMA2, and this year marks the first time that I felt I could exclusively spec the grandMA2," reports Mark Butts who serves as programmer for the tour, with Chesney and McGraw, and programmer and lighting director for the CMA Music Festival. "I'm now specifying them for all my new projects."

The Brothers of the Sun Tour is the tenth that Butts has done with Chesney. The all-stadium tour features "simple straight trusses but a lot of stuff. I decided to go with four grandMA2 full-size just to manage the complexity of the show," says Butts.

UK - The eagerly anticipated shortlist of lighting designers nominated for the coveted Knight of Illumination Award has been released.

Organised by the ALD, STLD and Clay Paky and now in its fifth year, the Knight of Illumination Awards provides public recognition for outstanding achievements in lighting design by lighting designers working on productions in the UK.

Professional reviewers who work in each of the specific categories have agreed the shortlists and the awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony on 9 September at Battersea Evolution, Battersea Park, London.

The shortlists for each category are as follows:

UK - Visual Productions will bring the new IoCore to PLASA2012. This input and output interface module will be highlighted on their stand, Hall 1 - G23.

The IoCore is an expansion module in the CueCore product family of solid-state lighting controllers. It offers interfacing to digital and analogue inputs and digital outputs and supports various protocols like DMX, RS-232, OSC, UDP and Art-Net.

The IoCore features eight inputs that can be individually configured as digital or analogue input. Set as digital input, it allows for an easy connection with for example physical switches and sensors. When set to analogue, it supports 0-10V and 1-10V inputs; ideal for connecting to household dimmers.

Theeight outputs on the IoCore are relay-switched and can handle 3 Amp. The digital outputs can be used to switched various other devices like A/V equipment, blinds or heavy-duty relays.

UK - Rosco has introduced the LitePad Loop - a ring light that represents the latest addition to the popular LitePad line of LED lighting fixtures. LitePad Loop is an innovative, easy to use ring light that quickly installs around the lens of a camera for on-axis lighting, says the company.

LitePad Loop is just over nine inches in diameter with a four and half inch centre hole. The light engine within the Loop is Rosco LitePad which is well known for its flattering, indirect light output.

France - The city of Agen in France is undergoing great changes with several projects seeing the light of day in recent years. The facades along Boulevard de la République and Place Wilson have been beautifully illuminated thanks to the use of 350 Martin Tripix 300 linear LED luminaires and six Exterior 410 colour changers.

In charge of the project and installation were companies Electromontage and Inéo while lighting design was by Lionel Bessière of the Toulouse-based company Quartiers Lumières.

The Tripix 300s are attractively-designed IP66 LED bars based on tri-color LEDs for a better mix of colors under the lens. This produces a wide range of shades, in particular bright whites, subtle pastels, and vibrant saturated colors, with no chromatic decomposition.

UK - At the end of June the High Definition Festival was held at Hainault in Essex. In only its second year it has already become one of Europe's leading dance music festivals with nearly 9,000 people turning up to party. Acts included Ms Dynamite and world famous DJ Fedde le Grand.

Lighting designer Terry Lewsey specified a total of 12 LEDHead 324W moving head wash luminaries and 30x LEDHead SBar battens to be included in the lighting systems across eight stages.

The 324s have 108x 3W RGBW leds and were used for general stage washes and movement.

All of the lighting production and effects for the festival were supplied by Light Design Ltd, based in Rainham, Essex. They have had both of the units featured above in their rental stock for over a year and have recently increased their stock levels due to high demand in the festival and corporate markets.

UK - Czech technical solutions Provider AV Media invested in a substantial amount of new Robe moving lights and Anolis LED fixtures which is installed at the 'Czech House' Pavilion, a base for all sports fans and supporters of the Czech National Team during the London Olympics.

The Czech house took over the entire Business Design Centre building in Islington.

Czech National TV's Olympic broadcast studio is located there, and the Pavilion features massive screens so the public can enjoy all the best of the Olympic action, together with food, beer, wine and digestives, chess, streetball, art, Czech Team merchandising and a host of other cultural offerings including a stage for live bands, DJs and other entertainment, with sociability high on the agenda.

UK - Detonate Indoor Festival in Nottingham is an eight-arena, four-venue music festival featuring over 50 artists and dozens of Chauvet fixtures. The annual event features some of the leading drum and bass acts around, including Sub Focus, David Rodigan and Skream.

One of the venues, The Forum, featured a stage filled with 48 Chauvet Professional MVP 18 modular video panels, 14 Chauvet Professional Q-Spot 260-LED and six Chauvet Professional Q-Wash 260-LED moving heads, and eight Chauvet DJ Intimidator Scan LED 300 scanners.

Found throughout the other four (of the eight) stages were a selection of Chauvet fixtures, specified by Stage Electrics and JPS Sound and Light.
