USA - Bill Sims will depart Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions, formerly Color Kinetics, at the end of June 2008, the company reports. He will be succeeded in the role of CEO by Jeffrey Cassis, currently the company's senior vice-president and COO.

Under Sims' leadership, Color Kinetics achieved sustained profitability and its revenues grew 30% per year on average between 2001 and 2007. He guided the company's strategic direction, sales operations, expansion of its OEM business, and the creation of its successful licensing program. He also oversaw the company's most pivotal milestones, including its successful initial public offering in June 2004 and its acquisition by Philips in August 2007 for just under $1 billion.

For the past 12 years Sondericker has been Wybron's senior electronics/software engineer, helping design almost every product the company makes. Germany - Beyerdynamic has reported that Fred R. Beyer, the shareholder and long-time managing director of beyerdynamic GmbH & Co KG, died on 5 June 2008 in Heilbronn, Germany.

The company's statement says: "Beyer will be best remembered as a man who did not bow to convention yet still maintained a strong sense of traditionalism. After his father's death in 1959, he took over as Managing Director at the age of 26 of the still family owned manufacturing business and held that position until his retirement in 2002.

"He gave up a very promising career with the US Army and with it his great dream of a military life, although anyone visiting him at the factory could be forgiven for thinking that they had landed in the army because of his impressive collection of military vehicles and his management style.
