UK - Since acquiring the SADiE brand at the start of the year, business has been booming for Prism Sound - so much so that the company has added a number of new staff to help satisfy demand for its range of recording, post production and test and measurement products.

"Despite the economic doom and gloom, we've had an exceptional year and this has led to the need for additional staff," says Prism Sound's sales and marketing director Graham Boswell. USA - Crown Audio has appointed Matt Bush to the position of vice president of sales starting in November. Bush joins Crown Audio from sister company, Harman Music Group, where he was vice-president of operations and takes the position previously held by Scott Robbins who was promoted to VP of sales for Harman Professional last month. In his new role, Bush will direct worldwide sales operations from Crown Audio's Elkhart, Indiana headquarters and he will report directly to Mark Graham, president, Crown Audio.

Switzerland - Barix has announced the appointment of Marcel van der Meijs as VP of sales and marketing effective immediately. Based in the Netherlands, he will focus on increasing sales-driven activities for Barix on a global basis.

Van der Maijs comes to Barix with more than 20 years of experience in international sales & marketing in the security and network industry, including high-ranking positions within Lantronix International and HID Corporation.

Germany - Ammar Fawzy is joining Telex as regional sales manager, working on CCS (Critical Communication Systems) in the MEA regions. Following Telex's growth strategy, Ammar Fawzy completes the sales team for this year and will report directly to Kamil Swobodzinski, sales director CCS & ACT for EMEA.

In his new position Fawzy will analyse the business in the Middle East and Africa, discover its potential, and develop the sales region to the next level, says the company. His last post was as product manager with Mediacast Fzllc in Dubai, where he provided solutions for post production facilities and broadcasters in the area.

South Africa - Dan Riley has joined South African professional lighting sales specialist DWR Distribution's expanding sales team.

Riley's responsibilities in DWR will include handling Vari*Lite sales. DWR has just taken on the exclusive SA distributorship in an expansion of its portfolio of premium brands.

He will also look after ADB and general lamp and day-to-day sales. He's worked with ADB products since the early 1980s and looks forward to continuing the association.

The newly-created DAC Pro-Media has opened its account by signing up GCI Technologies, the American conglomerate, whose brands include Gemini, Cortex and iKey Audio. DAC will also act as a specialist sub-distributor for premier pro-audio and M.I. supplier Sound Technology, selling its portfolio of products including the Harman Pro brands JBL, Crown and AKG into the DJ market.

UK - White Light has announced the appointment of Martin Palmer as business development manager.

Palmer has been in the lighting and sound industry since he was 18, starting his career working in a local nightclub whilst training as an electrical engineer. He worked for various electrical contractors in the performance industry, including bars and leisure complexes. He later joined Stagecraft as an engineer, being promoted to sales director in 2004. He has designed and worked on over 200 performance venue projects, including over 50 newly constructed schools, drama spaces, recording studios and numerous village halls.

USA - James Cowan, president of Neutrik USA, died on 5 November from cancer at the age of 52. He worked for Neutrik for 20 years, starting out as general manager, then vice president and was named president in March of 2000 and was well-known and widely liked by the pro audio industry. He will be greatly missed.

Prior to joining Neutrik, Cowan held various positions with such companies as Texas Instruments, Panduit Corp. and Dialight-Kulka-Smith. He received a bachelor of science in marketing and economics as well as a master's degree in marketing from Monmouth University in New Jersey.

USA - The winners of Wireless Solution Sweden's 2008 W-DMX Visionary Awards are Nathan Barmer and Jason McKinnon. They were presented with their prizes during a Swedish party at LDI in Las Vegas.

The W-DMX Visionary Award is a special recognition of individuals in the professional lighting industry who were early adopters of W-DMX and had an immediate vision about how it could be applied to great advantage in their respective production environments.

USA - LEDtronics has named Greg Krymer as product sales manager for architectural lighting. Krymer has been the company's Southern California district sales manager. In switching from a territorial to a product category focus, he will spearhead the outreach drive to a wider commercial market, to expand national and international sales activity, and accommodate customers with architectural LED lighting product solutions, says the company.

UK - Christopher Burridge has been promoted to sales manager of London-based Light Projects Group.

Burridge has been a sales engineer with the company for six years. Initially focusing on the company's core ranges, he subsequently specialised in Roblon's fibre optic ranges and has become an authority on the use of fibre-optics, working closely with lighting designers to help plan and create schemes across the residential, commercial, retail and specification markets. USA - Crown Audio has appointed Vincent Tan to the position of business developer for the Asia region. In this role Tan will be responsible for supporting the sales within the region and working closely with the customer base. He will report to director of marketing for installed sound, Brian Divine.

Previously, Tan served as an engineering manager for Spectrum Conferencing, which specialises in providing integrated conferencing and professional audio visual solutions. In this role Tan was responsible for the management and direction of the post sales department, where he led a team of four engineers in providing after-sales services.
