Van der Beken brings to Element Labs over 20 years international experience in key commercial roles in different AV industries. UK - The Roland Systems Group has expanded its UK-based team of pro-audio specialists with the addition of Simon Kenning who joins RSG from Stage Electrics, where, for the last seven years, he has been a business development manager. He has freelanced as a sound engineer on many prominent festivals in western England and Wales, and also spent a couple of years teaching sound design and engineering.

At Stage Electrics, Simon was responsible for the design and implementation of several technical systems within theatres and colleges. At RSG he will provide sales and support for the RSS portfolio of digital control systems such as the M-400 V-Mixing System.

Another addition to the team is Helena Lewis, who will be the RSS point of liaison at Roland's national headquarters in Swansea.

USA - Jay Easley has been appointed manager of Midas & Klark Teknik for the Americas. Part of the Pro Audio team at Bosch Communications Systems for nine years, Easley most recently served as director of Live Sound for the Bosch Communications Systems family of Pro Audio brands (Dynacord, Electro-Voice, Klark Teknik, and Midas).

UK - Martin Locket has been appointed chief executive of Production Resource Group UK, which encompasses PRG's four European brands - PRG Lighting, Essential Lighting, PRG Distribution and Summit Steel.

Richard Williams takes the role of chief operating officer & chief financial officer within the group and will be working closely alongside Locket to coordinate, drive and grow the UK businesses.

UK - LSI Online has learned the sad news of the death of Harry Greenaway, a well known figure in the sound industry and former managing director of TOA. Here, Terry Baldwin of Baldwin Boxall remembers his close friend:

"Born and brought up in Blackpool, Harry spent most of his working life in the sound industry, majoring as managing director for the Japanese-owned company TOA. It was Harry who introduced the "Golden Ears" awards for his best distributor - a most difficult decision as all his best distributors were his best friends! He took his top companies away on "conferences" to boring places like Majorca, Japan and other such locations. (I knew they were conferences because I saw pictures of them all at the bars!)

USA - Element Labs has appointed Steve Simard as sales director for North America. The appointment forms part of Element Labs' continued growth strategy. Simard brings to Element Labs over 10 years experience. Prior to joining Element Labs, he spent over 12 years refining his skills in the fields of display technology integration and project technology, working closely with retail developers, building owners, brands and advertising agencies alike.

A graduate of Kennedy Western University's business program, Simard consolidated his skills and industry expertise in various positions with technology firms such as Barco and Saco Smartvision. He will be based in Atlanta, Georgia.

UK - Experienced audio professional Fran Hunter has joined Red Square Audio where he will be primarily involved as technical sales manager, but will be also working closely with founder Paul Nicholson on demo and training activities in support of both the Innovason and Tannoy lines.

Hunter has been working in studio and live professional sound for over 15 years. He has been involved in work as varied as rebuilding a Neve room for a London studio, working in studios across Europe, firefighting (in some cases quite literally!) through the night on major tours and festivals, and completing live multi-track recordings for artists such as Prince.

Middle East - Bosch Communications Pro Audio Division, which includes brands like Electro-Voice and Dynacord, has appointed Ryan Burr as its new regional sales manager for the Middle East and Africa, based in Dubai.

Ryan comes from Dundee in Scotland and has recently been working for Dubai-based distributor Venuetech, where he dealt with sales of pro audio products into the national market within the UAE. He has also been involved in supporting many permanent installations within the UAE so brings some of the knowledge required to fulfil his new role with him.

Malaysia - Harman Professional has announced the appointment of several new staff members to the Harman Pro Asia team. The Harman Pro Asia office, located in Kuala Lumpur, has effectively added three new additions onto their team: Eric Goh, Kit Roche and Raymond Tee.

Goh has been added to the Asia staff as regional sales director for South Asia; a position in which he assumes responsibility in handling all dealings involving Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He will report to David McKinney, Harman Professional's senior director of sales for Asia.

Another team addition, Roche comes to the office with 20 years of administrative experience and assumes the position of office manager.

To round out the newly appointed members of the Asia team, Tee joins as application engineer and will handle technical support and system design support for all of the Harman Pro brands.<

France - Innovason reports that Tomas Ourednicek, who heads up Innovason's Czechoslovakian distributor, MusicData, has pulled off a fabulous result with his rally partner Miroslav Zapletal in their Mitsubishi L200 by coming seventh overall in the Dakar Rally.

Mats Jonsson is the new CTO for Wireless Solution, with 25 years experience in software development for major manufacturers of infrastructure equipment. Jonsson will be project manager for W-DMX, responsible for software design.

Kjell Johanesson is a new radio engineer with 20 years experience from Ericsson, the provider of mobile phones and GSM Networks, which were the technologies that formed the basis of W-DMX when the company formed in 2004.

Willhelm Alhgreen is responsible for hardware design and will work together with Johanesson and Jonsson to continue the development of new products.
