Flex Array is a medium-scale professional sound reinforcement system that combines elements of Turbosound's patented point-source system with well proven line-array technology, resulting in a one-box-fits-all loudspeaker product suitable for a variety of venue types.

By simply changing the orientation of the cabinet, one enclosure type is capable of being used in either line-array or point-source configurations. The ability to rotate the mid/high waveguide within the enclosure gives additional flexibility of use from only one type of box.

Sweden - RC4 Wireless, a Toronto-based manufacturer of wireless low voltage dimming systems and DMX distribution, have launched a new W-DMX enabled product line called W-DIM. The W-DIM products bring W-DMX connectivity to a complete system for low voltage battery operated lighting, motors, and more, say the companies.

The first W-DIM for W-DMX product will operate from 6V to 30VDC and provide four outputs of 200W each in a small and compact package. W-DIM uses a high-efficiency switching power supply and high-frequency PWM dimming resulting in minimal heat and power loss. Dimmer outputs feature thermal and overload protection and under most fault conditions individual dimmers will disable themselves until the problem is corrected.

UK - The Soundcraft Vi Series will now support multiple stageboxes. This means that a digital patchbay can be created, where the engineer can select the 64 inputs to a Soundcraft Vi6 (or 48 on the Soundcraft Vi4) from a selection of inputs available on any of the connected stageboxes. So, for example, with two stageboxes connected there are 128 inputs to select from, with three there would be 172 and so on.

The Vi Series stagebox is the main input/output interface for the system, with up to 64 mic/line inputs and 32 line outputs available, or AES/EBU digital cards can take the place of mic/line I/Os.

The Vi Offline Editor software, Virtual Vi, will be downloadable free from the company's website from March, and can be run standalone in any location, and the file transferred at any time. All routing, naming, EQ and dynamic settings and so on can be pre-configured offline.

Germany - The EVI Audio team will be presenting an array of new products at ProLight&Sound 2008, including the Dynacord D-Lite 1000, D8, PowerSub 312, D12A and D12-3A, along with Electro-Voice's DC-One and ZX3, and the new DN9696 splitter from Klark Teknik.

As well as the new products, there will be "a generous helping of entertainment, a prize draw and live music in the Agora marquee and at the EVI stand itself.

The Agora Marquee is run jointly by the Musikmesse Frankfurt and EVI Audio, and has established a reputation as a live venue of class over the course of the last few years. Germany- Allen & Heath will unveil two new additions to the ZED range of small-format USB mixers for live performance, recording and production at ProLight&Sound. The ZED-12FX (6 mono + 3 dual stereo channels) and ZED-22FX (16 mono + 3 dual stereo channels) retain the same professional feature set as other models in the range with the addition of a comprehensive section of in-house designed effects.

ZED's effects are divided into four types: tap tempo delays, short reverbs, long reverbs and modulation. They are controlled by three buttons for easy navigation and editing, allowing the parameters of each effect to be quickly 'dialled-in' to, for instance, pinpoint the ideal delay time or amount of reverb.

USA - High End Systems will introduce DL.3, the newest addition to - and the next generation of - its line of digital lighting products.

The DL.3 digital automated lighting fixture, featuring an integrated media server, takes projection possibilities to the next level with a number of new features, says the company.

DL.3 is equipped with a 6500 lumen 3-chip LCD projector. A high 2000:1 contrast ratio results in a dark 'video black'. The projection possibilities on DL.3 are expanded with new lens options for longer throw projection applications. Also new in the DL.3 is an SDI input/output for professional AV applications.

A new projection feature includes an innovative DMX-controlled vertical lens shift function. This allows the user to set the lens shift function by DMX cue and thus reduce the amount of keystone correction required to produce a normalised image.

USA - dbx Professional Products is introducing the new SC 64 (System Core) and SC 32 Digital Matrix Processors. These processors feature Wizard-driven system configuration using Harman's HiQnet System Architect.

The SC 64 and SC 32 host a total of 64 and 32 analogue I/O respectively, configurable in banks of eight. UK - Martin Audio has announced its adoption of the new EASE GLL format for its Omniline micro line-array system.

EASE is one of the most established and widely-used acoustic prediction programmes available. However, until now, separate, plug-in DLL (Dynamic Link Library) software programmes have been needed to enable EASE to predict the performance of complex line arrays. The new GLL (Generic Loudspeaker Library) format included in EASE 4.2 is an advanced data format that allows for more accurate and sophisticated modelling of line arrays, clusters and columns.

From its introduction as a concept in 2005, Martin Audio recognised the GLL as a major step forward - with entire systems, including high-resolution complex acoustic data, crossover filters and mechanical properties all bound together in one file, says the company.

USA - LEDtronics has announced its latest generation of PAR 30-style LED spotlight bulbs. The PAR 30 LED bulb is made up of five three-Watt high-power LEDs. PAR 30 LED bulbs are direct incandescent PAR 30 replacements, combining advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, standard 25mm Edison screw-in bases, and light optimizing designs producing 480 to 544 lumens of vivid light depending on the bulb model.

PAR 30 LED bulbs are available in a 40° light-emitting viewing angle, running on 80V to 260V AC current. Other voltages like 12Volt AC or DC are optionally available for qualifying customers. The LEDtronics PAR 30-style lamp replaces a 50W to 75W PAR 30 incandescent bulb but has a maximum power draw of only 15.8W.
