UK - DPA Microphones will be unveiling the first microphones from a new range geared towards the MI market at PLASA 2008 and visitors to the company's stand will have the opportunity to win one of the mics in a prize draw.

DPA believes "that musicians deserve to get the best sound possible from their precious instruments when playing live. To this end, they have taken their groundbreaking technology and created a range of cost-effective mics tailored for a wide array of musical instruments, complete with robust carrying cases and gentle, discreet mounting solutions".

On the DPA stand, a live band will be putting these new mics through their paces. Visitors' badges will be scanned and entered into a competition to win one of the new instrument mics.

UK - Void Acoustics will be unveiling three new X-rated products - two bass loudspeakers and a range of amplifiers at PLASA 2008. The whole Void team will be on the stand to introduce the Arcline X, a new 2 x 15" bass unit for Void's Arcline line-array touring system, as well as the diminutive 2 x 12" Mycro X, together with Void's new range of UK-built, switch-mode Infinite X power amplifiers.

Measuring just 680mm x 335mm x 440mm, the tiny Mycro X bass system features two 12" drivers in the same cabinet volume normally occupied by a single driver, increasing the sub's power handling to some 1400W and generating a SPL up to 130dB. This level of performance gives the Mycro X one of the highest outputs from one of the smallest bass enclosures available. Vigil OmniCare is an addressable emergency voice communication system that allows disabled refuge, fire telephones and disabled toilet alarm remote units to be wired in one system. It has been developed in accordance with BS5588, BS5839 part 9 and BS8300:2001 (for the disabled toilet alarm).

The system has two main components: a Master Control Panel and the Remote Units. The Master Control Panel is available in various options: 8-128 way. Control panels also function as slave panels when wired into a Vigil OmniCare system on the ring circuit loop. The Master Control Panel is normally wall mounted within a central control room, with additional panels at other locations for control of local areas.

The company now offers a total of 14 UV-stabilized colours that do not fade in sunlight outdoors, and remain protected from indoor contact due to the loudspeakers' rugged, durable structures, says the company.

The brown colour was added to the library by request from Technomad contractors and end users looking for loudspeaker colours to blend in with wood and earthen environments. The rich brown colour is intended for zoos, hotels, public walks and other tourist attractions for background music, entertainment and public safety applications.

Denmark - DPA Microphones is giving visitors to its stand at IBC 2008 the opportunity to win a 4017 shotgun mic. The mic can be won by simply showing up at stand number 8.D90 and getting your visitors' badge scanned.
