USA - Aviom continues to add to its Pro64 Series with the introduction of the 6416o v.2 Output Module. The output levels featured on this module simplify connectivity with other manufacturers' mixing consoles, amplifiers, powered speaker systems, and recording devices, and increase the flexibility of Aviom's high-fidelity digital audio networking solution, says the company.

The 6416o v.2 is compatible with a wide range of signal level requirements, making it suitable for live sound reinforcement, broadcast, and other audio distribution applications. Each channel on the 2U rack-mount 16-channel digital-to-analogue converter has a four-position output level switch with settings for +24, +18, and +4dBu line-level, or mic-level output, as well as three-segment level metering. With the 6416o v.2, complex installations are easy to configure and manage by specifying the channel/slot ra

UK - The 100th Midas PRO6 console has now shipped, and an ever-growing order book is heading towards the next 100, which are being shipped as fast as they can be built, says the company.

"We seem to have judged the market exactly right with the launch of PRO6," says Midas sales and marketing director David Cooper. "We knew during our planning phase that we had a great concept for the second Midas digital system in terms of its superb audio, features set, build quality and price, but the overwhelmingly positive response from both owners and users has surpassed our wildest dreams.

"With other manufacturers focusing on the low end we're confident we are very well placed to meet the rigorous demands of national and international touring riders, as well as those performance audio installations where good enough just isn't good enough."

USA - Furman has announced the P-1800 AR rack-mount voltage regulator/power conditioner. A successor to Furman's r AR-15 II, the P-1800 AR provides stable voltage protection and line noise filtration for any A/V installation where reliable, comprehensive protection is needed.

The P-1800 AR provides consistent 120-V output (±5 V) from input voltages ranging from 97 VAC to 137 VAC. Unlike commercial voltage regulators, the P-1800 AR's new True RMS voltage regulation technology, featuring an ultra-low-noise, microprocessor-controlled eight-tap toroidal autoformer, is engineered for use in any A/V environment.

The benefit of True RMS is the assurance of quiet operation for critical listening and recording applications, with minimal leakage of stray magnetic fields. Additionally, when the autoformer switches voltage taps at the zero cross points of both voltage and current, it doe

Sweden - Lab.gruppen has announced accelerated development of the LM 26 Loudspeaker Management processor, a stand-alone digital loudspeaker processor based on Lake Processing technology. USA - The US Patent Office has issued patent 7,461,500 to J. R. Clancy for a "System for Determining Wear to Rigging System Lines," more commonly known as SureGrip rope. This is the only theatrical rope with a wear indicator, to tell users when the rope should be replaced.

SureGrip was developed by J.R. Clancy specifically to address the safety concerns of worn hand lines. Excessive wear is indicated by a "telltale" red thread woven into the rope - when red threads are visible, it's time to replace the line.

"Theatre safety is important to us," said Bob Theis, president of J. R. Clancy "and the development of SureGrip is part of our ongoing work to reduce risk backstage."

USA - Shure SM microphones have proven their worth through decades of rigorous use and abuse on stage and in the studio. Now Shure is expanding the line to give performers and engineers more tools to choose from with the introduction of the SM27 and SM137.

The SM27 is a versatile large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone designed to pick up the nuances of vocals and instruments with clarity. This microphone has a one-inch ultra-thin Mylar diaphragm for superior transient response, exceptional low frequency reproduction, and a low self-noise (just 9.5 dB SPL) to reveal fine detail when recording or during live performance. The SM27 offers lower self-noise and improved dynamic range specifications over the KSM27 model that it replaces.

The SM137 is a cardioid probe microphone for instrument recording applications. The SM137 employs an ultra-thin diaphragm for s

USA - Furman, a world-leading provider of power management solutions, have announced the launch of the P-1400 AR E rack-mount voltage regulator/power conditioner. The P-1400 AR E provides stable voltage protection and line noise filtration for any A/V installation where reliable and comprehensive protection is needed.

The P-1400 AR E accepts input voltages between 188V-270V and converts to a steady, stable output, user selectable to 230V or 240V (±10V). Voltages approximately ±10% beyond that range may be converted to usable levels, depending on the requirements of the equipment. This stable voltage protects equipment and allows optimal performance. The P-1400 AR E's True RMS Voltage Regulation technology is driven by an ultra-low-noise, microprocessor-controlled, eight-tap toroidal autoformer that is engineered for use in any A/V environment.

The Netherlands - At ISE 09 in Amsterdam, Christie unveiled the Christie Vista URS-1608, a universal routing switcher. Offering total flexibility with "virtually limitless input and output formats", the Christie Vista URS-1608 eliminates the need for most or all front-end and back-end boxes providing one point of control with just one piece of equipment, says the company.

"Most routing switchers require all sources and destinations to be the same format. If your input source doesn't match your output display, you need peripheral hardware to process and convert it before the router can do its job," explains Vista Systems' president Clark Williams.

"However, this is not the case with the Christie Vista URS-1608. You can do all your processing in the switcher itself and route it to any destination - super fast and easy. The Christie Vista URS-1608 packs a

UK - Following the enormous success of the Chroma-Q Color Block LED fixture with rental companies and end users alike, the manufacturer has combined the product's core elements of modularity and versatility with new single colour RGBA optics, 530 lumens output (almost double the original model) and theatrical grade dimming to create the Color Block 2 fixture.

With its radically increased colour palette and high CRI (colour rendering index) of 90, the Color Block 2 fixture can create both vibrant, bold colours and subtle, theatrical hues, the manufacturer says. "Combined with its built-in variable colour temperature capability, even flesh tones look natural, satisfying all but the most critical eye".

The four large, camera-friendly LED cells offer performers less glare and provide single colour output, virtually eliminating the colour separation shadows normally synon

UK - PR Lighting has launched a new LED moving head wash light, the XLED 590.
