UK - A Midas PRO6 making its touring debut with the Manic Street Preachers so impressed the band's Emmy-award winning engineer Chris Trimby, he has declared it his preferred console above all others. "It'll be my first choice wherever I go now," says Trimby.

For the Manics tour, in support of the band's 10th studio album Postcards From A Young Man, Trimby chose a PRO6, supplied by UK rental company SSE Audio, for more than 50 dates worldwide.

Midas' biggest achievement, according to Trimby, has been to design a digital board which retains an analogue feel and, of course, the renowned Midas sound. "It's laid out very intuitively," he says. "Everything's only one or two button pushes away, whether you're hitting a channel or hitting the EQ button. You can manoeuvre yourself round the board very quickly. Australia - ARX has announced the release of their new MaxiDrive six channel high current line driver / distribution amplifier.ARX's managing director Colin Park states, "With the advent and widespread use of large self powered line array loudspeaker systems, the change in system signal drive requirements seems to have been missed by many signal processor / DSP processor designers and manufacturers. "It seems little thought has been given to what follows on in the signal chain and the demands multiple loudspeaker input impedance loads can place on processor output stages. "The system is faultless," says Harley. "The response is immaculate and the build quality superb. I had problems for many years with wireless guitar equipment. But I hate leads rolling under my feet and was determined to keep on hoping for the real thing to come along. Eventually, I was introduced to stageClix. Worries over."

Guitarist Robbie Gladwell (Dr. Robbie) is also using the 'Pack' beltpack version in the band, and guitarist/violinist Barry Wickens joins Steve in using his own 'Jack' system on his guitar.
