Russia - The Dynacord Road Show recently visited four Russian cities, the first, the nation's capital, Moscow, being followed by Rostov on Don, Samara and St Petersburg in that order, with some 200 dealers and pro audio professionals participating.

In addition to detailed product demonstrations - featuring, inter alia, the Corus Evolution loudspeaker series and the PowerMate3 - the Russian Dynacord partner Dealer Centre conducted seminars offering tips and tricks designed to simplify and enhance the day-to-day work of those in the industry. Opportunities for discussion are another important element of the Road Show concept, so time was set aside for detailed consideration of the needs of, and questions posed by, individuals attending the events.

"The tour was highly successful," reports Natalia Petrukhina, Dealer Centre's marketing manager. "In view of the fact

Belgium - ADB Lighting will host the worldwide launch of Freedom and Liberty, two "highly advanced lighting control desks", at ProLight&Sound 2011 in Frankfurt (6-9 April 2011). The consoles are based on the powerful new Hathor software platform, which was previewed in 2010.

Freedom is designed to offer a solution where large numbers of multi-parameter instruments need to be controlled with "ultra-fast access". The desk allows users to control multiple LED fittings, intelligent lights and media servers as well as standard generic dimming systems, say ADB.

Liberty is aimed at space-challenging environments and any cost-conscious venue seeking a fully integrated solution to control conventional and moving lights, LED sources and other modern equipment. It all comes in a compact and portable console with the capacity of much larger and more expensive lighting

UK - The LD Systems Powered by Eminence series has been extended by five passive & active multifunctional loudspeakers and all models are now equipped with BMS compression drivers.

Andrew Richardson, managing director of Adam Hall UK says, "The Stinger Series has been further expanded with the LDEB212 added for high power live applications. "Powerful performances, easy handling and high pressure levels qualify these speakers for all types of full range applications, making them perfect for stage usage. The housing is built from high quality Birch Plywood

The Netherlands - Sound Projects has introduced the self powered SPX-65 to augment the SPX-series of identical, yet acoustically complementary loudspeaker systems.

Within the SPX family, each model is optimised for a specific coverage or function. In those situations where one point source cabinet will not deliver the necessary SPL or coverage, the SPX-65's neatly fills the gap, says the company.

Because of its constant horizontal coverage angle of 65 degrees and semi curved wide 15 degrees vertical radiation, it will deliver a flat slice of audio in the mid and higher frequencies. Wide enough to be used as a single in-fill or narrow enough to be used in multiples, a column or as a traditional sized line array module. The pragmatic fly frame and greatly simplified rigging hardware help the technician to quickly find the proper angles.

Germany - Hamburg Airport claims to be the world's oldest airport still at its original location, with its first flights taking off in January, 1911. Exactly 100 years later, the airport celebrated by hosting live music and presentations on five stages. Carrying the festivities to 3,500 attendees were Meyer Sound systems featuring the new MIna line array loudspeaker provided by Blue Noise of Hamburg.

Staged in the airport's cavernous (6,200 m2) Terminal 1, the event featured a 30-minute show on airport history along with performances by artists hailing from the airport's far-flung destinations. According to Blue Noise managing director Hendrik Rogel, the combination of a highly reverberant space and simultaneous programmes on multiple stages presented an extraordinary challenge. "The terminal is made of metal, glass, and marble," he notes, "so we had to avoid send

USA - The chimes that ring out every 15 minutes across the campus of Penn State Schuylkill in east-central Pennsylvania create a soothing environment for the staff and 1,000-plus-strong student body. The Technomad Schedulon playback and recording system is responsible for this atmosphere, acting as an audio master control unit for the university's public address system.

The Schedulon playback and recording system gives PA system operators the freedom to schedule automatic playback of audio files while maintaining a high level of manual control. According to Vince Mitchell, IT support specialist at Penn State Schuylkill, the unit's networking capabilities and automatic playback of user-defined schedules were a perfect fit for the university's needs, while the inclusion of manual playback options added a special touch.

"The Schedulon allows me to build schedules and upload

Australia - Jands Production Services deployed their Optocore fibre optic based audio distribution network on the Sydney Telstra 500 V8 supercars race held at Homebush.

"We used Optocore as a simple point to point distribution network to go long distances," reports Jim Straw, JPS' general manager. "That way we could run 600, 900 or 1000m of fibre on just one piece of cable to distribute eight or 16 lines of audio. Really we're using it in quite a basic format but it is very reliable. We used in on all four V8 races that we have been involved with this year and haven't had any problems with it. It has made life very simple for our guys out there doing it. Labour-wise, it is very efficient."

The Optocore fibre was used to distribute audio from JPS' on track system to broadcast and vica versa, acting basically as an interlink. "There are other companies t

The XL8 has been purchased to replace this XL4, and includes four DL431 active input splitter units to provide audio splits for the XL8 and the studio's sound-to-air console. It will be used for TV and radio music programmes, both of which require the highest-possible quality audio content.

"After years of mixing on the XL4, anything other than a Midas would have been a backward step," says Mr Byung-Gyoo, audio director at KBS, who attended the tra

UK - West London based sound & lighting specialist Entec's sound department has completed a specialist d&b sound installation at one of London's most significant historical landmarks, Stationers Hall, a grade one listed building near to St Paul's Cathedral, London.

The building, the home of the Worshipful Company of Stationers & Newspaper Makers formed originally in 1559, dates back to 1763 and is now also one of London's most prestigious corporate event venues. It is owned by The Livery group, which also manages St Paul's Cathedral.

France - L'Opéra Bastille is a shrine to culture and architecture but it is also a working building that stages some of the biggest, most complicated operatic productions in the world. An ATEÏS International IP-based communications system has been installed at the Paris opera house so stage managers, performers and crew know what is happening and when.

The 2,723-seat venue was designed by Canadian-Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott and opened on 13 July 1989, the day before the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille. Updating technical equipment is a continual process at big venues and the Bastille Opera is no exception.

ATEÏS finished work on the building-wide paging and stage monitoring system at the end of 2010 and is now upgrading the public address installation. Unusually ATEÏS France installed the paging and monitoring equipment itself, rather than just supply
