India - Tourists and residents enjoyed a visual treat during the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi, India. In partnership with Doordarshan, India's public television broadcaster, and with technological support of Scala India, International Technomedia (ITM) presented live broadcasts of the Games on large format outdoor video screens installed in key commercial spots in Delhi. ITM's outdoor Delhi network is the largest one-city-network in the Asia-Pacific region.

The content on the ITM LED screens was powered by Scala. In an effort to enhance the viewing experience, Scala India was asked to set up a flawless live broadcast of the opening ceremony of the event on several of ITM's outdoor screens that are normally used for advertising. In a short time frame, Scala India was able to get the live feed running on the screens in high quality.

Solund has dedicated its time and energy to develop a snoezelen centre containing the right elements to create a modern and innovative place that users can benefit from. The idea behind a snoezelen centre is to create settings which intensify the users' senses by stimulating, entertaining, calming or activating them.

ProShop Europe, a Danish-based AV technology integration specialist, has been the main technical partner for this project. They supplied and installed the screens, control panels, lighting and audio systems. They also selected and programmed the Medialon control system installed in The Golden Horn.

Vietnam - The celebration of Vietnam's 1000th anniversary was held in Hanoi at the My Dình Stadium on 10 October.

With over 1000 players and dancers, it was a spectacular event. Guests included Hillary Clinton, USA Secretary of State, President Sarkozy, the Russian Premier Putin and many other international heads of state.

In Hanoi, visual designer Paolo Buroni and his team coordinated by Sabine Linder worked together on the artistic and choreographic content of the show which narrated the history and the beauty of this country through the four elements of nature using a large scale technical deployment of hundreds of image and lighting effects projectors.

The stadium and its surrounds were frescoed with images projected by 60 Stark Live and Revolution projectors that were chosen after a comparison with an international array of technologies and projection systems.

USA - The Zinman Co, LLC has unveiled its latest product for live entertainment and broadcast, "In Your Back Pocket", a collection of 400 HD loops for LED screens, digital lighting and HD projection; pre-rendered for MAC and PC based media servers. "It's not a replacement to your existing library, but a resource in your back pocket when you can't find "that" clip in your existing library," explains developer Michael S. Zinman.

"We designed every clip to be easily keyed, tiled and colorized painlessly, we've also rendered many of these clips to play at a slower speed, as most media servers do a better job speeding clips up," says Michael Zinman.

UK - Production rental company Class Act Sound & Light, based in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire, has purchased 12 panels (flight cased) of Highlite UK's DMT P10 LED Pixel Screen along with various rigging bars and Arkaos server/software.

Class Act approached Highlite with the brief that they wanted an LED screen that could be versatile and used both for live TV and as a stage effect with the use with graphics playback behind performers.

UK - Leading creative design and AV installation company Sarner will design, create, produce and build the first ever immersive Doctor Who Experience for BBC Worldwide.

Sarner, known for the concept, design and creation of themed visitor attractions around the globe, was awarded the contract following a competitive tender at the beginning of 2010 and is currently working on the pre-build prior to going on site at the beginning of December. The exhibition will officially open at London's Olympia on 20 February 2011.

BBC Worldwide's head of exhibitions and events, Paula Al-Lach, has been working closely with Sarner on the project since its inception. UK - Rose, a son et lumière collaboration between projection artist Ross Ashton and sound artist Karen Monid, was the main centrepiece of the 2010 Illuminating York festival of light. It drew in 65,000 people to York city centre to enjoy the show over four days, running for three hours each evening in a continuous loop.

Ashton and Monid were commissioned to produce this latest work following their successful Accendo for the 2008 Illuminating York event, which lit the facades of the Yorkshire Museum and Abbey Ruins in York's Museum Gardens.

Rose was a 40m high artwork that transformed the Minster's famous medieval Rose window and surrounding architecture into an amalgam of images, ideas, colour and sounds. It was a four-part study encompassing the symbolism of the rose and its relevance to the city's ancient and contemporary history.

Poland - The Chopin Museum in Warsaw has been completely re-invented by the Italian architectural partnership of Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto.

"From a technological point of view, this was our most ambitious project yet," says Servetto. "We knew that we wanted to integrate all the sounds, visuals and interactive technologies together, but we also wanted to do it in a way that offered a very human experience."

On entering the exhibits, each visitor is given a unique RFID card which allows them to personalise their experience, interact with the various displays, and ask questions of the museum's electronic data archive. There is no set order in which the exhibits should be viewed; on the contrary, visitors are encouraged to choose their own route, with the RFID code sensing their location every step of the way. The display utilized Sharp's PN-V601 professional LCD panel with an ultra-thin bezel just 6.5mm wide, giving viewers a 180" wall of high-definition content to observe.

Paul Smith used four of the screens to showcase backstage footage from their new spring/summer 2011 catwalk collections for men and women . The remaining five screens played exclusive short films made by Sir Paul himself, including one of him riding with the Rapha Condor Sharp pro-cycling team. The versatility of the video wall allowed for six different films to be displayed at once creating "a fully immersive viewing experience".
