UK - SGM has chosen PLASA Focus in Leeds (27-28 April) as its major UK launch showcase - following "a rapturous reception" to its new range at last month's ProLight&Sound in Frankfurt.

At the same time they will present the team behind their new UK office, and introduce the personnel who will be selling, marketing, servicing and offering technical support following the company's merger with RCF SpA.

Leading the operation is UK director of sales Phil Price, supported by product specialist Greg Oliver and experienced service manager, Maria Jenkins.

Spain - ETC's Spanish dealer Stonex continues to introduce users to Ion, with a training day held at the Teatro Campos Eliseos in the northern city of Bilbao earlier this month.

Stonex's product manager Ezequiel Nobili reports, "We did two days of basic training on the Ion with seven people using three Ions. One and half days were in ante rooms learning the geography, navigation and philosophy of the desk - in order to understand the most basic functions - followed by moving light control. The final half day was spent working on the main stage, practising what they learned by controlling moving lights, conventional profiles and a number of the theatre's ETC Selador Series LED fixtures. The new theatre also has a permanent installation of two Ions with fader wings.

Italy - Coemar reports that it supplied its products to some of the biggest-grossing concerts last year. At the end of January the weekly Billboard magazine ranked these concerts amongst the Top Ten Tours of 2009. Just under a month later Coemar was also present at the Lo Nuestro Awards organised by the American television network Univision dedicated to Latin music.

The Infinity Wash XL projectors were utilised on the concerts of AC/DC, Pink and Tina Turner. Each projector supplies 1400 W of power and incorporates a 5°- 84° zoom. The performances of Billy Joel & Elton John were highlighted by Coemar's ParLite LED lights.

USA - At NAB 2010 this week, Barco is introducing a powerful new line of 3G/HD/SD-SDI and Analogue routers. Specifically designed for the needs of the events market, the new routers are integrated with the Encore and ScreenPRO-II presentation systems.

The MatrixPRO-II series provides a flexible and dependable routing solution of 3G/HD/SD-SDI and high speed analogue signals for simple and complex configurations at an affordable price, says the company.

The line is offered in three models, 8x8, 16x16 and 32x32, in a slim, power efficient package that is only 2.2 inches deep. Germany - Optiled Lighting International will be showing its full range of products at Light+Building 2010 in Frankfurt this week. This is the first time that Hong Kong-based Optiled is showing its products at a European trade show.

Optiled offers a full range of indoor LED lighting products for different applications. Germany - GLP and G-LEC exhibited together for the first time at this year's ProLight&Sound Show in Frankfurt, with the large (260m²) stand fully lit with LED. This joint appearance saw nearly 120m² of G-LEC Phantom 30 LED video display and over 100 different impression units in various LED assemblies (warm and cold white / RGB / 5-colour XL / XL RGBWWC).

The presentation included four new developments from GLP - the Volkslicht Zoom (at the lower end of the LED range), the impression 300 RZ (at the upper end), the Creation II-2048 controller and the impression Meisterstück.

Head of marketing, Uli Steinle, said he was more than satisfied with the reaction. "This year again the large number of visitors was a pleasant surprise to us," he said.

UK - Northern Light is supplying and commissioning 72 ways of ETC Sensor dimming and a custom made house lighting control system to Northamptonshire's newest venue - the as yet unnamed theatre which will be housed within the £31 million Corby Cube development.

The Cube development - due to open in October - is a six storey, civic building which will form part of a new town square for Corby. The facilities include a 445 seat theatre, arts and studio spaces, a library, a bistro, council offices and chamber and a terraced roof garden.

Northern Light were approached by main contractor Mitie to provide dimming and control for the theatre's house lighting system.

Mike Percy, Northern Light's project engineer, says, "We've designed a bespoke control rack which features equipment from suppliers such as Pulsar and Global Design Solutions for operation of the theatre house

Previewing at the show is the Chroma-Q Color Force 72 / 48 range of 6ft 12,000 lumens output and 4ft 8,000 lumens output LED battens. The range provides a smooth, uniform coverage for washing areas up to 26ft high.

UK - Osram's COINlight-OSTAR LED modules and control gear have been specified by consulting mechanical and electrical engineers Michael Popper Associates and included in luminaires produced by lighting manufacturer Metro, to illuminate the f Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

The modules were specified to provide a high level of light output as well as long lamp life. It was essential that the modules come equipped with a long lifetime as the fittings are in an awkward location which makes re-lamping difficult.

The Crucible Theatre is a 980 seat auditorium that is renowned for its innovative theatrical productions and also hosts the annual World Snooker Championships. Over 750 Osram COINlight-OSTAR LED modules were installed in the main auditorium as part of a massive renovation project and overhaul of the complete Crucible site.

Portugal - Coemar and Audium, a major Portuguese distributor of professional audio, video and scenic lighting equipment, consolidated their 10-year partnership at the annual presentation held at the Estoril Casino in Lisbon in February. Present at the exhibition were leading Portuguese lighting designers and rental companies.

Lighting designer Josè Rosado decked out the stage at the Casino using the new Infinity moving head fixtures.

For the Infinity range Portugal marked the last leg of a European presentation tour which concluded at ProLight&Sound in Frankfurt.

Co-starring on the stage at the Casino were the ParLite, StripLite, StageLite and CycLite units, part of the LiteLed range of projectors. Coemar used these to create a spectacular six-hour show.

Part of the casino's extensive entertainment facilities, the venue features a stylish design reminiscent of the hippest clubs in L.A. and New York. It is also equipped with state of the art lighting and sound systems to cater for the diverse range of musical acts, comedians, amateur nights, karaoke and fashion shows hosted by the venue.

The eighth annual PALME Middle East 2010 was officially opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre by Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality. "PALME has always been an important show at which to do business and this year is no exception.
