UK - The Association of Lighting Designers has announced that their former chairman, Rick Fisher, has been given the honour of becoming a Fellow of the ALD. It is the highest award the Association can give to its members and is presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art and business of lighting design.

He joins the company of such luminaries as David Hersey, Robert Bryan, Andrew Bridge and Francis Reid, who presented the award to him.

Another Fellow and ALD President Richard Pilbrow sent a message from the US which was read by Mark Jonathan who hosted the event:

USA - Philips Lumileds has announced the appointment of Pierre Yves Lesaicherre as CEO of Philips Lumileds, effective immediately. Mr. Lesaicherre succeeds Michael C. Holt and will report directly to Philips Lighting's acting CEO Frans van Houten.

UK - IT & AV rental DB Systems has grown its operations team with the appointment of Jess Walters and Katy Stannard.

As logistic co-ordinators, their role is to make sure the right kit and crew get to events and exhibitions allowing DB to deliver the projects it has been hired for.

Levieux will be joining Green Hippo's programming team under the title of researcher and software developer, aiding the production of new features in up and coming releases of Hippotizer software.

Gilby is a programmer who also works under the title of software developer, using his experience of a variety of languages and APIs. USA - With its expanding business into broadcast video and lighting, Elation Professional has appointed industry veteran Mark Haney as senior market manager of broadcast video and lighting. This new position focuses on the overall sales of Elation's LED video product, support and client relations.

Haney will have direct contact with Elation designers, dealers and installers, overseeing projects for the company's products in this market. Additionally, he will collect all market feedback for further developing Elation's growing broadcast video and lighting business, specifically with the company's LED video screens and expanded video and lighting product catalogue, as well as in the live touring and production segment.

Last year saw the North London based company directing their focus on Asia, with both sales director James Heron and head of sales Samantha Bailey travelling extensively in this territory.
