UK - Jotham Jackson has joined LMC Birmingham's technical sales team.

Jackson joins LMC following a period of employment with HSBC Bank. He comments, "I was trained in sales and then worked in the PPI claims department which gave me really worthwhile experience in delivering meaningful customer service."

In his spare time Jackson engineers for a number of bands in his local area, often playing to crowds of between 200 - 600 people. He also plays both the bass and electric guitar.

UK - GDS design engineer, Richard Dyer, has been named Technical Engineering Apprentice of the Year 2011 in a recent ceremony held at Wiltshire College. The award for outstanding achievement was presented by Duncan Haynes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chippenham.

Dyer has been working for UK manufacturer GDS since 2007, when he was taken on as a full-time employee after enjoying work experience with the company. His BTEC apprenticeship in Technical engineering, combined with a workplace NVQ qualification was sponsored by GDS and completed last year.

Currently in the position of design engineer, Dyer is responsible for the SMConsole stage managers desk and CueSystem show control ranges. Both ranges are being supplied across the world, from London's West End to Sydney and across the USA. They have been used in prestigious shows including the Michael Jackson Arena tour and Broadway's

UK - Ian Webster, a sales professional with extensive experience in the digital technology field, has been named sales manager for the United Kingdom, northern region, by the ADJ Group. USA - Belgium-based architectural lighting manufacturer Kreon has appointed Darin Fowler as general manager of North American operations, headquartered in New York City. In his new role, Fowler will oversee all sales, customer service and marketing in the US and Canada. Since his start in January of this year, Fowler has set up the office and is hiring staff, with warehouse space and a showroom to be announced in the near future.

Fowler was most recently regional sales manager at entertainment lighting manufacturer High End Systems in Austin, TX, where he concentrated on lighting for fixed installations.

Before that, he worked as senior designer/project manager for New York-based architectural lighting design firms Schwinghammer Lighting and Johnson Light Studio.

UK - Pyrotechnics and special effects manufacturer Le Maitre has announced the appointment of three new members of staff joining their Research & Development teams.

Dr. Hamish Cavaye (PhD) and Tobias Phillips (BSc.) join Le Maitre's Pyrotechnics R&D division based in Peterborough, while Mark Rhind (MEng) has joined the Smoke & Haze and Special Effects team based at Mitcham.

Hamish Cavaye obtained a first class degree at Oxford and went on to obtain a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Queensland in Australia. Toby Phillips has a BSc. in analytical chemistry and joins Le Maitre from 3M where he worked as a product & process development scientist. Phillips also spent some time on secondment to Afghanistan (mobilised reservist) where he worked with the Bomb Disposal Unit recovering explosive components to conduct forensic, physical and chemical exploitation.

Todd Vernon joins as project manager, after working for the last seven years as a lighting technician and rigger in both Australia and the UK.
