USA - After 30 years with J.R. Clancy, Bob Theis will step down from his position as chief executive officer on 31 December 2011. Theis will continue until July 2012 as an advisor to the board of Wenger Corporation, the company that owns J.R. Clancy.

Mike Murphy, who has served as president of Clancy since 2009, will become the company's top executive on 1 January 2012. He will retain the title of president.

In his 14 years with Clancy, Murphy has been integrally involved in sales, project management, new product development, and in supervision of some of the company's largest and most complex projects. He also developed and implemented the company's quality management program, which led to the company achieving ISO 9001registration.

Purves previously held a senior management role with Linn Products, and is well known throughout the retail and installation sector. More recently he has been running a company in the marine leisure market, including some interesting Super-yacht projects worldwide.

Selling his interest in early 2011, Purves has been teased out of early retirement by Audio Light Systems director Trevor Cross.

USA - Community Professional Loudspeakers has announced several promotions within the company's sales and marketing division.

Steve Goodwin has been promoted to the position of Latin America sales manager. In addition to his current responsibilities as marketing services manager, Goodwin will now handle all sales for Central and South America and the Caribbean, investigating new distributors and driving increased sales in those territories.

Julie Henn has been appointed to the post of senior sales associate. Henn's new duties will include overseeing both inside sales operations and customer service within the company's Inside Sales Department.

Muir is well known throughout the UK production business following his stint at Yamaha Commercial Audio where he specialised in digital audio networking technologies. USA - Clear-Com has named Bob Boster, previously vice president of worldwide sales, as the company's new president. Boster succeeds Matt Danilowicz, formerly company president, whose last day with Clear-Com was 31 December 2011.

UK - Bradford-based installation company TMC Ltd has announced the death of the company's co-founder, Paul Smith.

The company's statement said: "It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Paul Smith, co founder of TMC Ltd. Paul passed away on New Year's Day after a courageous battle with cancer. His family were by his side at his home in Haworth, Yorkshire."

UK - The Association of Lighting Designers has announced that their former chairman, Rick Fisher, has been given the honour of becoming a Fellow of the ALD. It is the highest award the Association can give to its members and is presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art and business of lighting design.

He joins the company of such luminaries as David Hersey, Robert Bryan, Andrew Bridge and Francis Reid, who presented the award to him.
