UK - Notch, the visual creation tool for interactive motion graphics, is set to incorporate ray tracing into the software's realtime workflow as part of an upcoming March release (0.9.22). The news was announced at NotchCon, the inaugural Notch conference held in London in January.
Ray tracing, an advanced graphics rendering technique that has long been used for non-realtime rendering, provides realistic lighting by simulating the physical behaviour of light. It is the foundation of visual effects used in movies and TV and will provide a ‘significant jump’ in visual precision directly inside Notch, says the company.

The Netherlands - German fibre network associates Optocore and BroaMan combined their resources at the recent ISE 2019 expo in Amsterdam as part of the portfolio of brands distributed in the Benelux by the Ampco Flashlight Group.
The stand was busy as it was visited by both recognised customers from the integration, event and broadcast sectors as well as newcomers seeking further information.

Germany - Lighting manufacturer JB-Lighting has announced its commitment to ArKaos’s Kling-Net protocol, which will now be embedded in its newest product lines including the Varyscan P18 hybrid, the Sparx 18 LED wash beam and the Sparx 30 twin zoom LED wash beam fixtures.
JB-Lighting’s head of sales Jörg Zimmermann explained that this is due to “the current and future requirements of lighting and visual design” which are constantly fluid and need to offer LDs, programmers and operators the most flexible and creative options.
One of those future developments, he observes, will include moving heads increasingly working in conjunction with video content. This is one of the main reasons they have decided “to support all these JB-Lighting devices with a network interface for Kling-Net protocol”, confirms Jörg.

USA - Obsidian Control Systems and Capture Visualisation report a new global partnership agreement to include a Capture licence with every ONYX console, allowing all NX console owners immediate access to the lighting design and visualisation software.
Every NX2 and NX4 lighting console will include a download of the latest version of Capture after a simple online registration. Users will receive an unrestricted standard license of a Capture Edition depending on console type. All licences are eligible for upgrades through Capture or any of its authorized resellers.

Europe - ISE 2019 saw the launch of the third system in the EM Acoustics’ HALO line array family, HALO-B. The move follows the introduction in early 2018 of the British company’s large format HALO-A arena system. Europe - Luminex Network Intelligence has announced that its GigaCore Ethernet Switch is now Avnu certified to support the Milan/AVB protocol. By adding this protocol, the GigaCore switch is validated against following protocols: Milan/AVB, Dante, AES67; ArtNet, sACN, MANet, and many more.

The Netherlands - At this year’s ISE trade show in Amsterdam, Martin Audio announced the launch of a cardioid subwoofer, SXC118, as part of an overhaul of its subwoofer strategy.
Designed for touring sound and installations, the SXC118 is a compact, high performance cardioid subwoofer. It features an 18” (460mm) forward facing driver and a 14” (356mm) rear-facing driver, each driven independently by separate channels and DSP from an iK42 amplifier. Each driver has its own chamber with optimised bass reflex porting.
