Germany - GLP has introduced two new fixtures based on the successful moving lights of the Ypoc series - the Ypoc 250 Basic moving head and the Ypoc 250 Color Basic. In developing these economical luminaires, GLP's developers have taken account of the needs of clubs, discotheques and leading bands.

Each device features an MSD 250/II discharge lamp, which, in combination with the high quality optical system, ensures a high degree of efficiency. The range of head movement for both fixtures is 540° of pan and 280° of tilt. The fixtures are controlled via DMX 512, and the DMX address is shown by a four-digit display on the device. The lamps can be started remotely from the lighting console.

Denmark - Newly available from DPA Microphones is the MPS6001 miniature power supply, designed to work with the entire range of DPA miniature microphones in situations where phantom power is not available. The 1-channel battery-operated MPS6001 also functions as a 48V phantom power adapter as the battery is bypassed when supplied with phantom power.

The MPS6001 is ideally suited to a wide range of applications. In the broadcast environment it will prove particularly useful when DPA miniature microphones are directly connected to cameras and other devices without phantom power. Spektrix, weighing in at just 32kg, is a rigid, trapezoidal, 11-ply Baltic birch compact cabinet, loaded with a proprietary Adamson 1.4" neodymium HF compression driver, mounted on an Adamson patented wave shaping drive module. The system also delivers greatly increased efficiency in the 100-200Hz frequency range and low frequency extension via two Adamson Neodymium 8" kevlar drivers. UK - Bosch Security Systems has announced that it is the first company in the world to achieve full TÜV approval for its digital voice alarm systems. Instead of the normal self-certification, Bosch chose to submit its Praesideo range of public address and emergency voice alarm systems to the independent and internationally-recognized TÜV Product Service GmbH testing authority in Germany.

As a result, Bosch's all-digital Praesideo is the first PA/VA system to be independently TÜV tested to EN/IEC60849 certification for sound systems for emergency purposes. UK - Gobo specialist, Projected Image, has announced the release of its latest catalogue and a new range of metal gobos, now available in an extensive collection of 'standard designs'. The company has expanded its gobo manufacturing facilities to produce metal gobos in-house, in addition to the glass gobos the company already manufactures.

The new catalogue was well received during its preview at PLASA where PI shared a stand with sister company Projected Image Digital, illustrating how gobo projection and digital images can work in tandem. The new catalogue also carries additional helpful information-based sections, including an introduction to Projected Image gobos and information on the basic understanding of metal and glass gobos.

USA - American Audio has introduced the HP-500 headphones - professional high-powered stereo headphones with replaceable earpads.
