UK - Continuing its ongoing supply of case solutions to audio console manufacturer DiGiCo, 5 Star Cases has produced the latest case for DiCiCo's SD range of digital consoles. The SD11 is the newest sound mixing product from DiGiCo, following on from the success of the SD7, SD8, SD9 and SD10 consoles.

The SD11 is DiGiCo's smallest sized sound desk to date. It is two consoles in one - a rack-mountable and a table top mixer with smart end cheeks and an arm rest - and an easy one-person lift from truck to table top, ready for action.

5 Star's design team was commissioned just before Christmas 2010 to create a special case for the SD11's planned launch at the recent Prolight+Sound 2011 exhibition in Frankfurt. "Once we saw the prototype SD11 at the end of last year, the first thing that was obvious to us was its neat and compact size," says 5 Star's MD Keith Sykes.

UK - Thirty-two Audio-Technica microphones (a combination of ES935ML6 MicroLine condenser gooseneck microphones and U851R cardioid condenser boundary microphones) were installed in Westminster Abbey for capturing the audio of the royal wedding.

The microphones were located in key areas of the Abbey; a computer touchscreen showed the operator their exact positions within the building. The ES935ML6 microphones were switched on and off locally by the user or controlled remotely by a verger using any of the touchscreens. Additionally, several U851R microphones were used on the altars.

Charbonneau, mixing engineer LeMobile. "We added four MADI cards to the DM2000 allowing an all-digital interface between our Pro Tools rig, Apogee converters, and the console. China The evening concert on 8 March 2011 at the National People's Congress in the Beijing Trade Hotel was performed by MYC with the Sequenza 10 line array from Kling & Freitag. The 330m high building with its 81 floors is at present the highest of Beijing.

In order to comply with these noise constraints, MYC used the Sequenza 10 Line Array from Kling & Freitag. The 40 m wide show stage was equipped with four K&F Sequenza 10N for the far field and two SEquenza 10W for the nearfield.

Germany - Hamburg's St Michaelis church has been equipped with one of Europe's largest Iconyx digital beam steering systems.

Churches and cathedrals often pose challenges for acousticians and sound system designers, but few surpass the architectural complexity of the cavernous St Michaelis, originally built in 1750.

Its interior is ornate Baroque at its most florid. White painted walls are endowed with gilded ornamentation and its architecture, advanced for its time, supports a soaring roof without columns. Destroyed by fire in 1906, then rebuilt virtually brick for brick, it has an important role in German culture, regularly hosting televised services, most recently a memorial service for Loki Schmidt, wife of former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, in November 2010.
