France - Innovason has unveiled the latest incarnation of its successful Eclipse digital mixing console, Eclipse GT. Sporting a new look and an optimized feature set for exactly the same price as its predecessor, Eclipse GT sets a new standard for engineers in terms of what they can expect from - and achieve with - a compact mixing console, says the company.

The look of the Eclipse GT has changed considerably with the integration of a few practical features like a side rail to facilitate moving and carrying, as well as some sophisticated aesthetic touches like the red LEDs in the side-cheeks (which may be switched off if necessary) and the signature Innovason red trackball reflecting the new company image that was first revealed at PL+S last year.

Another major change is the 'feel' of the console from an operator's point of view. All of the knobs and faders have been especiall

Czech Republic - L-Acoustics has announced the appointment of two new K1/Kudo rental network agents in the Czech Republic, T-Servis and High Lite Touring. Both companies, who already own substantial V-DOSC and dV-DOSC WST line source systems, have each added a K1/Kudo system and K1-SB subwoofers to their inventories.

The addition of these K1/Kudo systems to the Czech market emphasises the importance of the live sound reinforcement segment in this deceivingly small territory. The Czech Republic has a very strong musical tradition, and holds a large number of large-scale music events and open air festivals annually. Furthermore, its Central European location means that most European tours pass the Czech Republic.

Dan Krcmar, director of L-Acoustics' distributor for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Pro Music, comments, "We are excited to see two of our clients investing in t

UK - HK Audio's Elements system provided the PA for the Education and Learning programme sessions at PLASA Focus 2011 in Leeds.

Elements' compact size and surprising power means that only one E110SA active sub and two E435 tops were required per side of the stage in order to provide top quality sound for the numerous speeches and presentations.

Neville Raine, JHS's pro audio sales manager (North), said, "Elements has been working great - it has consistently provided a very clear, intelligible sound for all the sessions. The PLASA show has been massive for us. It's certainly been busier than last year, with a steady stream of people coming and enjoying the JHS stand."

Germany - Think Abele reports a positive reaction to from its at this year's Prolight+Sound trade fair in Frankfurt.

Thomas Abele, who together with his brother, Andrew Abele, founded the company that counts among its top-selling products the kinetic solutions from Movecat, comments, "The year has got off to a tremendous start for Think Abele, bringing us among other things the biggest single order for Movecat equipment since the company was founded.

"The rigging company Stage Kinetik is using our kinetic systems for the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. Also at the Prolight + Sound 2011 we sensed a strong demand for our equipment and were able set in motion some very profitable transactions. Israel - The recent upgrade to a Meyer Sound UltraSeries loudspeaker system transformed Jerusalem's Gerard Bechar Centre into a prime multipurpose venue to support its wide-ranging calendar of performances and community events.

"The old system was barely adequate for lectures," says Harel Tabibi, the Jerusalem-based independent audio consultant who designed the system. "For most performances, they had to hire outside sound companies to bring in equipment for the show. It was a situation that was not economically viable and often involved compromises in sound quality."

Since installation, the Meyer Sound loudspeakers have ably supported everything from community meetings and dance recitals to live theatre and rock concerts. "After a theatre show and eight concert performances using the new system, the comments from artists and sound engineers have been

The venue has a 1150-capacity main auditorium (Hall A), with a second (Hall B) that can be divided into three separate rooms for different kinds of function.

Camorino-based Electronic Studio SA won the contract to supply a new system, which was required to be high quality, extremely flexible and straightforward to use. It was also required to be expandable, for possible future needs and to allow for interconnection with other areas of the centre and for possible broadcast use, etc. To achieve this demanding brief, audio consulta

Slovenia - Also known as the 100 Gypsy Violins, the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra from Hungary recently delivered an astonishing performance in Slovenian capitol of Ljubljana. The count of performers on stage was astonishing - almost 60 violins and ten double basses, violas, cellos, clarinets and cybaloms - a traditional Hungarian instrument.

The concert was made possible through the recent renovation of the sound system within the Arena Stozice. The largest of its kind in Slovenia, the multi-purpose indoor arena is usually used for basketball, handball and volleyball games. The Arena Stozice is also designed to host cultural events alongside these sporting events.

The PA system in the Arena Stozice ¬- a space not known for being the Holy Grail of acoustics - was implemented by Slovenia's largest Electro-Voice rental company, Akustika Primozic of Ljubljana. "While pl

UK - Midas' new analogue console with FireWire interface, the 'digilogue' VeniceF, has completed its first-ever tour with Eliza Doolittle, whose FOH engineer John Delf, purchased one of the first off the UK production line for his own use.

Delf encountered the VeniceF during a PRO6 training day at Midas. "I saw a prototype that wasn't even assembled, and when I heard about what you could do with the built in 32x32 FireWire interface I was blown away and started thinking about all the different applications I could use it for," he says. "I decided to buy one there and then, without having heard or played with it as I was confident it would have that Midas sound. I tour with lots of different bands, plus I wanted a desk for my own studio, and I'd always wanted to own a Midas desk, so this seemed the perfect solution."

He continues, "It feels more like a

UK - Thin Lizzy are using a DiGiCo's 500th SD8 console on monitors for their current tour. Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Darren Wharton are joined onstage by Marco Mendoza, former Almighty frontman Ricky Warwick and Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell. All are very much from the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of rock so, for the band's recent UK and European tour, monitor engineer Phil Shenton used the tried-and-tested formula that has served hard rock well for decades.

"My remit was that the band wants to keep it old school," says Shenton. "No in-ears, it's six loud wedge mixes, side-fills and an analogue rock 'n' roll sound.

"My good friend Matt Coton of BCS Audio had been lucky enough to win the 500th SD8 at PLASA 2010," Phil continues. "I've always been a fan of DiGiCo consoles, so I gave Matt a call and hired the SD8 for the UK

Canada - Montreal's Les Grands Ballets Canadien recently purchased an Allen & Heath iLive digital mixing system following a trial run on a three week production of Leonce et Lena. The Company selected a system comprising an iDR-32 MixRack and iLive-R72 Control Surface due to its compactness, flexibility and versatility, which would be suitable for both touring and installed in their home venue, the Theatre Maisonneuve at the Place des Arts.

Three Macbooks, two installed at FOH and one in the orchestra pit, were set up to run different software packages, including Cricket V2, Qlab V2 and ILive Editor. The pit Macbook contained organ tracks to be played by one of the musicians, while all additional music and sound effects had redundant back-ups and the musicians tracks were controlled from

India - Earlier this year, AbhangaNaad: The Voice of Devotion took place on the University Grounds of Shivaji University in Kolhapur. Featuring approximately 2,500 Warkari (devotees of Lord Vithoba) singing in unison and accompanied by 1,350 Dhols (traditional Indian 'dhangar'drums), the event celebrated divine love in the presence of His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, also known as guruji.

This massive concert attracted more than 120,000 devotees plus another 3m television viewers throughout India. Sound reinforcement for an event of this magnitude required loudspeaker systems that could project over a large area with excellent speech intelligibility and music reproduction characteristics. D.A.S. Audio's Aero Series line array system was chosen for the task.

Organised in a bid to attract youth to Indian folk traditions, AbhangaNaad featured devotional songs and meditation as

Greece - The Costa Navarino complex stretches for two kilometres along the coast of the Messinia region of Greece and comprises two five star deluxe resort hotels, golf courses, restaurants, conference facilities, spas and dedicated activity centres for teenagers and children.

Yamaha's Greek importer Philippos Nakas SA won the tender to supply and install a high quality audio system throughout the site, playing background music in all the public areas such as bars, restaurants, children's play centres, hotel lobbies and reception areas.

System designer Vasilis Drimouras chose a Cobranet-based network, due to its cost-effectiveness and also because any latency is consistent throughout the network. Divided into 85 zones, the system features 32 Yamaha DME4io-C satellite DME units and 110 XH-200 distribution amplifiers to power its loudspeakers.
