UK - Iron Maiden's current tour production includes a DiGiCo SD7 at Front of House. Engineer Martin Walker has a long history of working with hard rock bands, including Judas Priest, Slash, Whitesnake and Californian thrashers Testament. He began working with Iron Maiden last year, bringing his console of choice, a DiGiCo SD7, with him.

"I really like DiGiCo consoles and was using an SD8 with Judas Priest," he says. "The first time I was involved with the SD7 was when I sat with Lars Brogaard on the first Rod Stewart residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. I moved up to one with Judas Priest two years ago and I haven't looked back."

Maiden generate about 40 inputs, plus another dozen from various outboard units and playback at FoH. Outputs comprise main left and right, with subs on an aux and vocal fills. Martin also does a multi-track recording of most

"This decision allows us to concentrate our efforts solely on professional audio electronics from our portfolio o

Canada - Audient has achieved a milestone with the sale of its 500th ASP8024 console, installed in a studio in rural British Columbia this year. Up and running in early autumn, studio owner, engineer/producer Rob Dewar is already reaping the benefits of his 36-channel desk.

"It has provided a centralised input rig and return buss matrix, which has made my mostly single-handed recording and production work here much easier in terms of flow," he says.

"I have set up my most-used inputs (my drum kit mics, four mic'ed guitar amps in booths, an M/S mic pair for acoustic guitars, a direct-patched bass, etc) on a semi-permanent basis, and I have built a rolling mobile remote control rig for the DAW, and a set of satellite headphone 'pods', so most of the time, I can just move into position, arm some tracks and let 'er rip, when inspiration strikes, without any serious

UK - Turbosound, headquartered at Partridge Green in Sussex, announced today it is relocating to new premises. The trigger for the move was the imminent expiry of the lease on their existing headquarters. As a result of this decision, Turbosound's manufacturing will move to premises owned by Music Group in Kidderminster, which serves as Midas and Klark Teknik's UK manufacturing facility and Music Group's European Care Centre.

Turbosound's research and development activities will relocate to Music Group's research facility in Manchester, which houses over 60 engineers responsible for Midas and Klark Teknik research and development. Existing staff have been offered the opportunity to relocate to the new premises.

Indonesia - After Vietnam, Australia, China and Japan, Outline is enjoying on-going success with the sales of its GTO line arrays, which in fact have been recently purchased by one of Indonesia's most qualified and respected rental firms, Melodia Sound & Lighting Systems.

Founded in 1997, Melodia is also the nation's Outline distributor. Through the years, Melodia has added various systems by the Italian manufacturer, including Mantas, Mini-COM.P.A.S.S., DVS, Eidos 265 and, more recently, GTO.

Thanks to this latest acquisition, the company was called in to handle the audio production for the concert by Italian-American guitarist, songwriter and producer Steve Vai (over 15m albums sold) at Jakarta's Tennis I

UK - Orbital Sound, the specialist supplier to the broadcast, theatre, event and entertainment markets, has supplied the sound system for Joey McKneely's vibrant new UK touring production of West Side Story. Sound design for the show is by Rick Clarke, deploying a sizeable d&b audiotechnik T-Series line array system. Orbital is responsible for supplying the sound equipment and technical support for the tour, which is currently booking through to next July.

Rick Clarke has been using the d&b audiotechnik T-Series since the system made its debut in 2009, based on the combination of the product's configuration flexibility and exceptional sound quality as a compact line array. A central element to Rick's approach for the new production was to preserve the power and vibrancy of the show's well-loved score, combined with a compact and versatile touring system suitable for the w

UK - RCF loudspeakers have become an increasing feature within the UK's burgeoning No Saints nightclub and leisure portfolio.

Via system integrators such as Cosmic Electronics their sonic solutions have found their way into a number of the themed 'Wonderland' and 'Wonderworld' brands - but this Autumn a more muscular RCF system was installed in the newly-opened Faces, in the heart of Wolverhampton's city centre on the site of a former Oceana.

Having stood empty for around 19 months this landmark building has now reopened after undergoing a £750,000 refurbishment.

In common with earlier themes, Faces contains two main dance rooms split across two floors (one called Tomorrow, the other Yesterday) and the sound and lighting systems have been completely replaced and upgraded in each.

General manager Mark Hickey, who had presided over the final days of the old Oceana, des

UK - Bradford-based Pro Audio Systems is delighted to announce the formation and launch of both a new commercial division and a 'brand makeover' for their existing businesses. Blynk Digital Media now takes its place alongside a re-vamped Pro Audio Systems in the group's portfolio of operating divisions.

Established in 1988, Pro Audio Systems spent much of the intervening period providing a range of hire, sales and installation services within professional audio, and in 2004 were appointed one of five Meyer Sound dealers for the UK. Their hire inventory subsequently expanded to include a Milo system and many other Meyer Sound products, all of which are deployed across a diverse portfolio of work.

It was their work in high-security airside installations, however, that provided the genesis for the new operating division. Co-founder and director Paul Siddall takes up the story, &q

Germany - The Windsurf World Cup Sylt is one of the sport's biggest global events, and consequently, only a high SPL PA system will handle its audio coverage. For that reason, German rental company Ambion provided almost 80 speakers from Nexo's PS Series for the 10-day event, held on the North Sea island of Sylt.

The town of Westerland, where the event takes place, routinely experiences strong onshore winds and lots of choppy waves; ideal for windsurfing but not so great for a sound crew trying to create enough SPLs and intelligibility for daily crowds of around 25,000. The system also needed to be flexible enough to provide sound reinforcement for recorded music, DJs, live commentary and announcement, and interviews.

Ambion is one of Europe's longest-standing Nexo clients, having owned the brand for more than two decades. The company has provided systems and technical service

Poland - The 900-seat Musical Theatre ROMA in Warsaw has installed Meyer Sound MIna line array loudspeakers to support its repertoire of musical productions. Designed and supplied by Warsaw-based Polsound, the new system was installed in the historic, early-20th century auditorium just prior to the opening of its latest production, Singing in the Rain.

"Our goal for many years has been to install a Meyer Sound system, and we simply love it," says Wlodek Kowalczyk, the venue's principal sound engineer. "The Mina system delivers sparkling definition, and a dynamic range that covers all the subtleties of sound in musical theatre. It responds to what I wish to achieve, without compromises."

The main FOH system comprises 28 Mina loudspeakers, which include twin left and right hangs of 11 each and a centre cluster of six. Four 1100-LFC low-frequency contro

UK - Following a highly successful church install earlier this year featuring KV2 Audio's ESD Series, Hull based sound specialists HPSS have installed KV2 in another Church. This time St John Newland Church in Hull is benefiting from the performance of KV2.

HPSS' technical manager Iain Firth assessed the church's requirements and advised that from a sonic and aesthetic viewpoint, KV2's passive ESD Series would again be the best solution.

Following advice from Firth the church opted for a Left/Centre/Right system flown above the stage area. The two-way 10" ESD 10 was the loudspeaker of choice complimented by a single 12" ESD 1.12 subwoofer installed under the stage. A pair of two-way 6" ESD 6's were used to handle delay duties.

For this project the Church took advantage of KV2 Audio's alternative colour options, choosing to go with white enclosures rather than

Columbia - Sound company C. Vilar was recently tapped to provide sound reinforcement for the Justin Bieber concert held at Estadio Menesio Camacho El Campin in Bogota, Colombia.

One of many dates on Bieber's Believe Tour, the artist performed for a crowd of 40,000 in the outdoor venue.

"Gordon Mack, the FOH engineer on the tour was given the choice between a d&b audiotechnik, Meyer or Adamson E15 system for the concert and he chose the E15," explains Mauricio Vilar, owner of C. Vilar. "He has traveled all over the world on this tour, using a variety of systems but when given a choice he chose Adamson - I think that speaks volumes for the Energia system."

C. Vilar provided left-right line arrays for the house PA, each consisting of 15 E15s and four Spektrix. Out-fill hangs of 24 Y18s covered seating on each side of the stage. Front-fill was handled

UK - During October, MLA Mini stepped out onto the world stage in its first commercial outing, and took on one of the most challenging venues around. The event was the annual conference of the retail giant, SPAR, and the venue was Westpoint, otherwise known to those in the sound community as a 'soulless shed', just off the M5 in Exeter.

Whilst Westpoint offers acres of space for trucks, and therefore easy load in, the venue itself, originally designed for the trading of Devon's finest livestock, is known for having a reverberation time of at least seven seconds. With MLA and MLA Compact having taken on and tamed some of the most challenging spaces in the globe, MLA Mini had an enviable reputation to uphold.

The pressure was further compounded because this event is a major cornerstone in the calendar of Plymouth based Pyramid AV, under the directorship of Nic Black. The product

Rami Jaffee, who is a founding member of the Grammy-winning rock band The Wallflowers and now keyboardist for the Foo Fighters, owns the studio with music producer Ran Pink, who has produced for PiNk & NoSeWoRthY and has composed for TV shows such as Happily Divorced and The Fran Drescher Tawk Show. Together, they operate half of the building as a recording studio and the other half, which features a big sound stage, as
