p-wave cleared for production

USA - Total Structures has announced that p-wave is now in production and should be ready to ship in early April.

p-wave is the innovative decorative version of the award-winning new wave truss series. While the same patented construction techniques are used, it is made entirely from Plexiglas. A prototype version of p-wave, the Plexiglas variant of new wave, was shown at LDI 2002 and generated a huge amount of interest. This prompted the Total Structures team to undertake further development. A unisex, non-rotating, fork end connector and the webs are machined from solid rod and flat sheet respectively using CNC machinery. Both sets of components are bonded to the tubular chords using high strength two part adhesive. p-wave really comes into its own when lit. The edges of the plexi capture the light and the truss positively glows with the colour it is bathed in.

USA - The Motovator is Wybron’s new DMX-512 controlled scenery and drapery motion system. It provides precise servo control of the position and speed of movement of AC motors, DC motors and hydraulic actuators used to move scenery, drapes and drops.

USA - High End Systems has launched a retail outlet on the popular Internet auction site, eBay, to sell its range of compact interior luminaires. The luminaires, which appeal to the mainstream markets, will be featured on The World's Online Marketplace at a special price for a limited time only, and although High End is known for its customer service, these particular products will be sold ‘as is’ without warranties because of the discounted price structure.

Further introductions to the site will include slow-moving and obsolete products, used products and products that don't fit the core competency of the company. High End's professional line of lighting and control systems will continue to be exclusively sold through its dealer network.

Powerflo fluorescent ballast

UK - Power Gems, best known for its design and manufacture of electronic HMI ballasts, has released the first in a series of high frequency ballasts for the remote control of fluorescent fixtures used in the motion picture and TV lighting businesses. This four-tube model, FB4/2P, automatically drives both 4ft and 2ft tubes without the need for manual selection. Additionally, a local dimmer and a DMX512 input, provides continuous dimming from full light output at 75W down to 1% light output. UK - Power Gems is currently previewing the latest product in its Xenon Ballast range, the XE200/2, suitable for leading brands of Xenon 2kW followspots. Electronic ballasts offer extended lamp life over magnetic ballasts and they are much, much lighter.

UK - Formula Sound’s recently-launched PM-100 Freedom Series modular mixers have already proved to be a big hit with DJs, who are now using them at some of the UK's most prestigious venues, say the company. Qube offers bargain line array

UK - Qube, the joint venture between pro audio manufacturers Renkus-Heinz and FBT, has introduced a new line array system, available via UK distributor Proel (International) Ltd, which it says is priced low enough to bring line array technology to a whole new range of lower-budget applications. The QSA-210 line array is a two-way passive line array speaker, featuring two 10" neodymium loudspeakers and two 1" neodymium drivers, together capable of handling 600W (400W RMS LF into 8 Ohms, 200W RMS HF into 8 Ohms).

USA - Cerwin-Vega are now in production on a trio of new subwoofers, spearheaded by the new AB-36 folded horn bass cabinet. Featuring the company's most advanced technology and design, the AB-36 was previewed at the Winter NAMM Show back in January.

Germany - A number of new products have been introduced by Germany’s GLP: these include the Junior Scan, a stylish scanner unit designed for use in restaurant and entertainment centres, at trade fairs and in shop and architectural lighting. With these installation applications particularly in mind, GLP has opted for a lightweight plastic chassis. The Junior Scan offers a wide range of mirror movement (230° pan and 110° tilt). Other features include 15 dichroic colours (plus white), two multi-colour effects, a rainbow effect, 19 gobos (two exchangeable gobos) and a high-speed shutter.

UK - Forge Europa has recently expanded the company’s range of LED components to include a comprehensive series of Precision High Performance LED lamps. The new range has been specifically designed to meet the demands of the expanding outdoor display market with a number of different size and wavelength options.
