UK - Horizon Control has published an Open Source section on its website for ET Marquee and Strand Light Palette lighting control software.

When it comes to software, there is never a shortage of ideas, but more-so a lack of skilled developers, especially in a niche market such as entertainment lighting. HCI's core technology is its internal fade engine and Universal Attribute Control, but with the release of the new Open Source area on its web site, there are now countless 'hooks' into this powerful software product, says the company.

Giving users that may dabble in software development the tools needed to 'poke and prod' the main fade engine allows them the ability to write powerful macros that go beyond recording a series of keystrokes. The mere ability to branch execution with a simple IF statement "opens the doors to possibilities that have never before been availabl

The supplied Lyre suspensions are universal fits, accommodating microphones from 19mm to 25mm in diameter. Included in the new packages are a pair of 25mm square-sided Lyres that are suitable f

Germany - GLP (German Light Products) reports a very successful PLASA08. Great interest was shown in its latest product, the impression XL. New Zealand - New products on debut from Selecon at LDI include the Rama 6" Fresnel with the new Osram 575W BTH lamp. Footcandle light output readings taken at spot focus are only 21.5% less than those recorded with the 1000W lamp and, at flood focus 36% less - an impressive 42.5% reduction in energy consumption.

There's also the Hui Work Light which is proving a popular addition to the Hui family of Cyc, Flood and Groundrow. Fitting the Cyc with wire safety mesh instead of safety glass means that the air flow system works in any position for extended operating hours required for overstage or rehearsal applications.

Plus, there's the 8-leaf barndoor and a new and improved rock'n'roll type colour change for the Performer Series range of Followspots.
