UK - PLASA 2011 continues a busy year for the Czech Republic based manufacturer which launches two new LED products - the Robin 1200 LEDWash, and the Robin DLX Spot, and previews the upcoming Robin 'Sniper' - a mega-bright beam fixture.

PLASA 2011 sees Cooper Controls show a host of new products from its leading UK brands - architectural LED manufacturer Cogent and lighting control manufacturer LightProcessor.

Among the main new architectural orientated products is the Cogent XC LED controller, which will be shown with its latest software.

This increases the number of operational modes from 12 to 20, which can be directly accessed via an RS232 port, with the colours also recalled by region via RS232.

This is one of the most straightforward and flexible 'environmental' LED control systems on the market. It is set up in 'regions' via eight compass points, each of which is assigned with its own DMX address, so regions can be activated, pre-programmed and controlled by selecting 'top' 'middle or 'bottom' buttons - in any room or space.

The dSPEC heralds an all-new approach to configuring, controlling and commissioning sound system installations, from very small to very large, says the company. Employing both a high-speed SHARC DSP and a Xilinx Spartan FPGA, dSPEC offers a host of capabilities - and a method of engineered workflow - not available anywhere else.

UK - Following success at ProLight&Sound earlier this year, Christie's new-look theatre arrives at Earls Court this weekend to take up its PLASA position in Hall 1, Stand E18. The Christie stand will once again present an integrated light show with video animations using Christie Nitro Solutions. Previewed at PLASA last year, this modular series of motorised moving yokes can provide up to 22,000 ANSI lumens of video projection, with the flexibility to allow the user to deploy the yoke with either a video projector or a LED light head.

Noted lighting director Bruno Corsini is tasked with creating and choreographing the show in a convergence of video and lighting-derived patterns. Corsini has a long list of accomplishments, including last year's landmark lightshow for Mexico's Bicentennial of Independence in the Mexican capital's main square.

UK - Midas has announced the latest additions to its PRO Series of digital consoles: the Midas PRO2 and PRO2C live audio systems. In something of a departure for Midas, which has always produced gear for the top of the line, the company says the PRO2/PRO2C takes the audio quality, performance, and values of the top-end Midas XL8, and makes them available at a price point well below the general-purpose mixing console average. The consoles are currently on display at the PLASA Show, September 11-14, at Earls Court, London.

Officially launching at PLASA, the ETC Gio is designed to fill the mid-range position in the Eos family, between Eos and Ion. UK - Sennheiser UK has confirmed the full availability of GB Channel 38 capable products, with examples on show at PLASA 2011 including 2000 Series and 3000/5000 Series products.

The updated versions include significant changes to the existing product ranges and ensure full Channel 38 compatibility post 2012, with 2000 Series GBw now tuning from 606 to 678MHz and 3000/5000 Series GB from 606-790MHz.

Additionally, Sennheiser UK has developed eRack, an all-in-one, cost effective solution that provides a fully assembled, ready-to-go evolution wireless G3 GB system.

UK - Chauvet has announced the release of Q-Wash 260-LED, COLORado Zoom Tour and AmHaze to the European market at PLASA 2011. Additionally, Chauvet is participating in this year's STLD LED Shoot Out presented by Society of Television Lighting and Design.

TheQ-Wash 260-LED joins the Q-Series of moving heads. It is "a punchy, fast and compact moving head wash light" with RGB colour mixing. This lightweight, easy-to-install unit has 37 three-watt, RGB LEDs, a six-degree beam angle, and nine or 12 channels of DMX control.

COLORado Zoom Tour joins the popular COLORado series of rugged wash lights for production and touring.

UK - Following a meticulous design and testing process Stageco is unveiling details of the company's new Tower Staging system at this years' shows in Earls Court, London. The new system is significantly stronger, bigger, and, in-keeping with Stageco's approach to stage design, is a modular component system. UK - LumenRadio announced their support for Art-Net 3, the latest release of the public domain Ethernet protocol from Artistic Licence Engineering. As of PLASA 2011, Art-Net 3 will be supported in all of LumenRadio's Ethernet enabled products.

Art-Net is supported by 200-plus international manufacturers, and is one of the protocols of choice in LumenRadio's smart and adaptive CRMXTM wireless lighting control system.

"By upgrading to Art-Net 3, we can be confident our products stay way ahead of the data demand curve," explains LumenRadio's Senior R&D Engineer, Michael Karlsson. "For example, one particular project that I recall used a single network to control a media server and distribute its output to a LED wall. Such a set-up could easily break the limit of many of the Ethernet protocols in common use today."

UK - Robe lighting enjoyed an "Awesome" PLASA 2011 exhibition at Earls Court in London, combining flair, innovation and action with many highlights including the showcasing of new products, plus the launch of the Robin DLX Spot - the world's first RGBW LED based moving head, and the Robin 1200 LEDWash, the latter to complement the existing popular LEDWash 300 and 600 units. There was also a special preview of the Robin Sniper concept.

The stand was busy constantly for all four days of the show, with major interest in the new launches as well as the Robin MMX Spot - the first in the next generation of 'workhorse' 1200 series fixtures - and the ROBIN 300 and 600 Spot, Wash and Beam ranges.

UK - Canford announced at PLASA that they are to exclusively distribute the MA2 series of Inter-M mixer amps in the UK. The MA series provides a cost effective solution for zoned PA in smaller installations such as houses of worship, retail, education etc. There are three models each featuring six inputs and five zones and both a single low-impedance and 100V line outputs. The units are all mono and rated at 60W, 120W and 240W respectively.

Despite the relatively low cost, each of the models in the MA series is well equipped. Facilities include input signal indicators, an output level meter, a graphic equaliser, announcement chime, siren and VCA remote control of volume using just a standard potentiometer. There are also external mute and chime controls.
