USA / UK - Richard Cadena, a respected lighting designer and entertainment technology media professional, has joined the PLASA staff. Richard will serve as the Technical Editor for Lighting&Sound America and Lighting&Sound International magazines, and, at Protocol magazine with sr. technical editor Karl Ruling. Additionally in the PLASA North American office, Richard will serve as assistant technical standards manager.

UK - Blitz Communications has appointed Brad Ward as a sound project manager. In this role, Ward, working alongside Adam Rudd and Peter Russell, will be responsible for theatrical and corporate events in the UK and throughout Europe.

Ward brings over 20 years experience in theatre and event audio. He relocated to London from New York City in early 2010 where he was working as a sound designer for Acoustic Dimensions. He has previously worked as the lead audio technician for Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Love show in Las Vegas as well as a freelance sound designer.

UK - Northern Light has announced the appointment of Simon Cooper - affectionately known as "Scoops" - as projects director for the company. Cooper, previously Northern Light's head of projects, has joined the board of the company in a specifically created role.

Managing director Colin Cuthbert explained: "As has been previously reported, Northern Light is performing extremely well in spite of the current economic climate and the board felt that the time was right for the expansion of our strategic management team."

Cooper has been with Northern Light since 2002 and has been responsible for the successful delivery of some of the company's most high profile projects including the Young Vic, Wexford Opera House, the Roundhouse, the London Coliseum and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

Following a brief spell exploring other avenues, Paul made the decision to return to R&B. UK - In October 2008 Adam Hall's headquarters moved, within the city of Neu-Anspach, Germany, to its new European logistic centre in Daimlerstrasse, just a few hundred meters from its previous location. The new logistic centre, with approximately 7.000 m² warehousing and production capacity has resulted in a great improvement to the availability of product as well as improving customer service and delivery time, says the company.

As a result of the continued growth of the Adam Hall Group and the focus on European strategy, some changes are being effected within Adam Hall Ltd.

USA - Bolstering its commitment to the fixed installation market, L-Acoustics US has announced the appointment of Andrew Nagel to the new post of installation support manager. Nagel reports to Cédric Montrezor, global head of installation support for L-Acoustics.

Denmark - Martin Professional has appointed Leif Orkelbog-Andresen as new business area manager - projects, overseeing project activities throughout Europe for Martin's Danish-based EMEA sales organization.

UK - After several years working in the research and development of Yamaha's live mixing products, David 'Tree' Tordoff has swapped the laboratory for the road, being appointed the company's new digital systems business development manager.

Having worked for over five years at the company's European R&D centre in Chiswick, London, Tree has extensive knowledge of Yamaha's live mixing consoles. He also has 20 years experience working as a freelance sound engineer for a range of artists, including Radiohead, Peter Gabriel and Duran Duran (who he still works with when required).

Tree's new role with Yamaha covers the UK and Ireland, delivering training to groups and advising individuals and Yamaha dealers about getting the most from the company's digital mixing consoles.

UK - Romers Electronics has relocated to larger business premises and has appointed two new company directors to stand alongside managing director John Caton who has been working at Romers for over 30 years.

Former senior project engineer Lee Thompson has returned to Romers as operations director along with Sid Makinson who will be commercial director.

UK - Richard Martin Lighting has announced another new addition to the team. Colin Brooker has joined as RML's business development manager.

Brooker has been working in Canada for the past two years, although he has over 10 years of previous Industry experience. USA - Studer has appointed Rob Lewis as sales director for the United States. He will be based on Harman's Northridge Campus and joins Adrian Curtis's International Studer sales and customer service team.

"I am very pleased to have someone with Rob's background and experience join Studer and look forward to working with him in the US market," Curtis said. "He has already begun efforts to expand the US team's East Coast sales and support staff."

Reporting to Lewis, Paul Shorter will continue to manage Studer customer service from Northridge in addition to commissioning and sales applications support.

UK - J&C Joel has announced that Richard Wright has joined its team as a technical sales representative. Wright brings over 35 years of experience to the role and most recently worked in technical sales for projection screen manufacturer, Harkness Screens (UK).

As well as his in-depth knowledge of J&C Joel's range of PVC projection screens, Wright also has a wealth of experience in working with flame retardant fabrics.

Wright will be based in North London and will be on hand to assist clients in the capital and around the Home Counties.

Nobunao Amos, who is fluent in Japanese, has joined as an account manager and will work with DB's design agency and event organiser clients. Meanwhile, Carrie Martinge has joined the company's DBpixelhouse division in an account management and administration capacity.

Australia - Keith Prestidge has joined Harman's Studer team as sales director, Asia Pacific reporting to Adrian Curtis and with a brief to grow the expanding region in broadcast and performance installations for Studer audio mixing systems.

Previously general manager at Klotz Digital Asia, Prestidge has resided in the territory for 15 years. He started his professional life as a hands-on radio broadcast engineer and has spent 20 years in the industry, which has included periods in project engineering and sales.

"Extending the Studer sales team with Keith based in Sydney will further improve our customer focus in the Asia Pacific sales region," said Curtis. "He will work closely with Tat Nam Yee, our Studer applications engineer already located in our KL, Malaysia office."

Never happier than when facing a challenge and putting those 30 years of hardcore experience to full effect, there are so many tales to tell of his technical brilliance, his irascible humour and warm friendship. USA - Meyer Sound have said they are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of audio industry pioneer and "dear friend", Owsley 'Bear' Stanley.
