UK - Mark Millar has joined Tannoy's expanding marketing team, based at the UK-based company's headquarters in Coatbridge, on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Millar will "bring new capabilities and added bandwidth" to the team under the remit of communications manager Mark Flanagan, pursing related editorial and media opportunities for Tannoy, as well as sister brands Lab.gruppen and Lake.

Having worked in magazine journalism at senior editorial level for over 10 years, Millar brings to his new role a wealth of experience within the music and audio press sector.

UK - Avid has appointed Mick Brophy as European sales manager for its Live Sound division. Mick will be heading up Avid's Live Sound European sales team, with a focus on driving sales of the Avid VENUE live sound console range.

Mick brings with him over 25 years' experience in the live sound industry. Before joining Avid, he spent four years in Barcelona as the international sales and marketing director of professional products for Vieta, based at SeeSound, Avid's Spanish and Portuguese distributor. In this role he drove sales of the VENUE product range in Portugal, gaining extensive knowledge of the system and customer base. In addition, he's held positions at mixing console company, AMEK, where he spent 11 years, three as international sales director. Mick also worked as a consultant for various audio companies, advising them on how to grow their sales.

Germany - Effective from 1 August 2011, Peter Claussen will take over responsibility of the Installed Sound Business Division at audio specialist Sennheiser. Claussen joins Sennheiser from the IT company Höft & Wessel AG. His last post at the company was as deputy chairman of the management board. The Installed Sound Business Division has until now been provisionally led by Dr. Heinrich Esser. As divisional president, Claussen will become a member of Sennheiser's Executive Management Board.

In his new post, Peter Claussen will be responsible for installed sound technology. His core responsibilities will include the operative business and the strategic development of the Installed Sound division, with the task of "guaranteeing that Sennheiser addresses the many and various customer demands even more successfully in this product area".

UK - Star Events Group announces that its Design and Engineering department has recently taken on three new staff following substantial increases to the company's workload and turnover.

The three new staff are: Tony Benabu (senior design engineer, Aaron Enos (design engineer) and Anthony Reeves (CAD technician).

Steve Horton (Design Division manager) will move to a consulting role at the end of August, focussing primarily on new product development and Mark Constant retains his position as design office manager.

"This enhanced staffing level will enable us to get our engineers on site more frequently thus building closer relationships with the crews that build our structures, leading to a heightened awareness on both sides of the levels of safety and efficiency the company requires," says Constant.

USA - DPA Microphones CEO and shareholder Christian Poulsen has assumed day-to-day management of DPA Inc, the Danish manufacturer's US subsidiary, with immediate effect.

Poulsen, who was appointed CEO in October after four years on the DPA board of directors, is a graduate of the Danish Engineering Academy and founder of digital camera and scanner company Imacon. The fastest growing industrial company in Denmark in 1999 and 2000, Imacon merged with Hasselblad in 2004 to transform the Swedish photography giant from high-end film camera company to a fully digital camera operation.

UK - Helen Ward has rejoined Saville Audio Visual as North West area sales manager for conference and live events operations.

Ward joined the sales team at the company's Leeds office in 1987 and later transferred to the Saville Manchester centre and progressed to hire manager before leaving in 2004 for a spell outside the company.

UK - Saville Audio Visual has announced the appointment of Paul Riddell as North East operations supervisor at the Saville Gateshead conference production centre.

Durham-born Riddell has worked in the live events sector of the audio visual industry for 16years, starting as an AV technician at British Airways' conference centre and later working with WH Smith, the Currys/Dixons rebrand roadshow and with NCJ Media.

France - Sound reinforcement systems specialist Nexo has confirmed the appointment of Ginny Goudy as its new international marketing director.

Goudy is a familiar face to Nexo's employees, distributors and customers, having acted as the company's PR and communications consultant since 1997.
