USA - There's a cool new wave sweeping the hippest clubs, bars and nightspots. The Wave from American DJ is a high-output 800-watt mood effect that sends out 60 unique 'S-shaped' beams in vibrant blue and aqua tones.

The wavy beams, combined with the shades of blue, make the Wave a unique effect. When used at slow speeds, it will create a serene mood with water-like imagery. Then, simply increase its speed at the flick of a switch, and the mood instantly changes from tranquil ambiance to a high-energy party atmosphere.

To give users this easy versatility, the Wave comes with built-in programs at both slow and fast speeds. The programs make it simple to run the Wave in plug-and-play Sound Active mode.

The Wave also has two DMX-512 channels for use with a programmable DMX controller. For larger venues, a series of Waves can be daisy-chained by XLR cables in Master-Slave mode.<

UK - For the first time, the Parans System will be shown at the ARC 07 exhibition in London, February 12-13. The Parans System transports sunlight into buildings via thin and flexible fibre-optic cables. Benefits of experiencing more sunlight include improved wellness and productivity as well as reduced energy consumption.

Sunlight is collected by a Parans Solar Panel on a building's exterior and transported into the selected room where it shines through a Parans Luminaire When the sunshine hits the Parans Solar Panel, two layers of lenses focus it into optical fibers. These optical fibres form the Parans Optical Cable which is drawn to the area in the building that shall be illuminated with natural light. The cable diameter is only 30 mm and can be 15 meters long which normally covers the three top floors in a building. If sunlight is to be taken to lower floors in high buildin

UK - As the sole UK dealer for Zaxcom RF Products in the UK, audio specialist Orbital is putting its Zaxcom products forward as a potential counter to the threat posed to the entertainment industry's use of RF spectrum by Ofcom's planned auctioning of the channels currently used under license.

"This presents two immediate problems," say Orbital, "the first being that under the current proposals there will be far fewer frequencies left for the theatre industry to operate in and the second being that there may be many new high power carriers like Mobile TV used in the frequencies that are to be auctioned off, that have the potential to create considerable interference spilling into previously available frequency bands such as Channel 69."

Recognising the serious implications of these proposals, Orbital is keen to provide a solution to what could otherwise thr

UK - Soundcraft's release of the Processing Card for the Soundcraft Vi6 adds "powerful industry-standard Lexicon effects and BSS Audio equalisation to this exceptional digital console", the company says. The card uses eight custom Lexicon DSP engines to provide eight mono or stereo effects units which may be patched to aux bus outputs and then back into a channel input, or inserted into input or output channels. The real flexibility comes from having control of these effects on the Vistonics II graphical screens so giving the engineer a comfortable and simple user interface, for which the Soundcraft Vi6 has already been highly praised.

The Lexicon devices give a choice of 14 types of reverb, including various plates, halls and spring types, seven delay settings (for example ping-pong and tape delays) plus eight other effects such as Chorus, Flanger, Tremelo and Pitch s
