Germany - Charter Broadcast reports it is continuing its successful relationship with ITV and the FIFA World Cup following a competitive tender against a number of suppliers. This most recent commission to work with ITV will be third consecutive World Cup that Charter has been invited to work on. Charter is responsible for building and running the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) for ITV which forms the hub of ITV's coverage in Germany.

The senior project engineer at Charter Broadcast, Roy Callow has been involved in the event planning and will remain on site to as an operational engineer to ensure the smooth running of service. The main challenge is that this will be the first time that content will be produced in High Definition (HD) for ITV's HD trial. UK - Sound Leisure Retail (SLR) will be back at this year's In-Store Show at Earls Court with a wider range of display products than ever before. New products will include the Soundpipe - a compact 50W amplifier, both practical and good value, designed specifically for the retail sector. Finland - FogScreen Inc has launched a new type of screen, named FogScreen One. The European premiere for the product is at TILE show, Maastricht. The original FogScreen has a fixed screen size of 2m x 1.5m: the Linkable FogScreen's width is 1m, but the screen is modular, which means that any number of screens can be linked together, say the company.

UK - Large format projection specialists E//T//C UK projected onto the historical Didcot Power Station last night - to celebrate the start of Oxfordshire's 1000th birthday celebrations on June 21, the longest day of the year.

The projected artwork was a 50 x 50 metre image of the Oxfordshire 2007 logo. It launched an action-packed programme of festivals and special events celebrating the county's very own millennium, co-ordinated by Oxford Inspires.

The image was beamed onto one of the 114 ft high cooling towers of Didcot A - one of three of npower's coal-fired power stations - by two overlaid 6KW PIGI Projectors, situated 200 metres away on wasteland that's part of the power station complex.

UK - Flight case specialist 5 Star recently supplied the Sound Division Group with a number of custom cases to house a selection of new plasma screens - purchased to keep up with an increased demand due the World Cup 2006.

5 Star supplied Tour Grade plasma trunks for the NEC 50" and 42" model screens to the north London based AV company. The cases feature special compartments for the screen mounting brackets and accompanying speakers which are detached from the screens when the systems are de-rigged - keeping everything self-contained within the trunk.

The trunks are finished in navy blue laminate, complete with the Sound Division Group's corporate logo screen printed on the sides. They were turned round very quickly to meet the start of the World Cup.

The Mitsubishi is configured as three portrait-shaped screens - two 11 x 5 panel surfaces either side of the stage used primarily for IMAG, and one 9 x 5 panel centre-stage screen.

Embedded into the bellies of the tusks and Scorpion Tails set-pieces (designed by Ray Winkler of Studio Fish) are 6500 Barco O-lite blocks. The new production, designed and produced by ECA2, is to be launched during the second quarter of 2007, and will be operated two or three times per night for a minimum period of three years.

Poland - With a Papal visit guaranteed to generate vast outdoor crowds in Poland during May, the country's biggest screen rental company TRIAS needed to ensure that it could provide such numbers with the best possible view. The company therefore invested in a large quantity of Lighthouse R12 outdoor screen.

"The Polish event market is growing rapidly, so to keep our leading position we have to grow at a similar rate - or even faster," says Zbigniew Klonowski, TRIAS' managing director. USA - Global strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton of McLean, Virginia recently installed one of the largest Symetrix SymNet audio networks ever built for an upgrade in their 147-seat corporate meeting space known as Newman Auditorium.

"In 2002, we recognized a need to redesign and upgrade our AV systems to showcase the latest advances in technology and to better serve the complex needs of our clients," said Gary L. Hall, for Booz Allen. "So in 2004, we began execution of a project to overhaul thesystems in the auditorium."

XL provided 10 Sanyo projectors in custom made hanging frames which Andi used with six dome camera's and five static mini camera's for the month long theatre tour. Touring on behalf of XL LA is Damion Gamlin.

The tour commenced in Philiadelphia on 1 June, and is concluding on 30 June at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
