UK - The London Eye New Years' Eve celebration has become a regular event for Stage Electrics, marking a successful beginning to the New Year.

Following eight consecutive years of supplying elements of lighting equipment and staff, this was the first year that Stage Electrics was the sole supplier of all the lighting for the New Years Eve event for Jack Morton Worldwide. This year's event stepped up a level with lighting designer Durham Marenghi making use of 14 Clay Paky Alpha Beams 700s, which were programmed by associate designer Paul Cook, to form 50ft tall digital count-down clock, on the Shell building façade, achieved using some precise indexing of the oblong slot Gobos.

The cues were triggered by a satellite time code via MIDI into the console, which set the stage, attracting over half a million New Year revellers, who again braved the cold to usher in the New Year as

UK - Projection artist Ross Ashton helped bring the Cambridge 800 Anniversary year to a spectacular close with two major new light works in the UK's historic University town that were dedicated to Transforming Tomorrow.

Projected onto two sites, Senate House and the adjacent Old School, and the end of Kings College Chapel and the next door Gibbs Building, a combination of PIGI and video projection technologies supplied by E/T/C London were utilised in three separate but related animated shows. These expressed elements of the University's dynamic science and research programmes as art in large format scrolling images.

Ashton was asked back to Cambridge to produce the shows following the success of his work 12 months ago for the Opening Ceremony. This time, the Cambridge 800 Committee decided to expand the scale and scope of the projections and incorporate the Kings Colle

The Netherlands - Norwegian projector manufacturer projectiondesign will present its latest innovation in projection technology with the preview of the FR12 Remote Light Source projector at Integrated Systems Europe 2010.

The FR12 Remote Light Source (RLS) concept relocates the lamps from the projector to a rack-mount enclosure up to 30m away from the projector head. Light from the 19-inch rack-mounted RLS illuminates the projector head via an innovative Liquid Light Guide (LLG). The result is a compact, ruggedized, virtually maintenance-free projector head with completely silent operation. There are no limits on installation orientation and lamp maintenance is entirely simplified.

"At the forefront of creating some of the most exciting technologies and innovative products, projectiondesign has made history by producing innovative projectors that are compact, bright and h

UK - G-LEC Phantom30 frames have been used for an interactive art exhibition at the National Railway Museum in York. For the installation, media artists KMA formed a bridge-like structure across the roof of the exhibition space using 13 2m x 2m screens, each of which comprised four G-LEC Phantom30 frames.

Artist Tom Wexler explains: "It was the railways which first created the need for standardised time across the country, so we came up the idea of an exhibition based on time, place and distance. We placed the 13 screens across the curved roof of the hall, with a thermal imaging camera at each end. The cameras captured people's movement and a few seconds of each person was looped. This was then shown on each screen in turn until the two people's images met in the middle.

"We specified the G-LEC transparent frames because we didn't want the screens to be too 'heavy' o

South Africa - Six dnp Supernova screens have been specified in the UCKG Park Station Cathedral in Johannesburg to provide all 7,000 members of the congregation with a clear view of the service.

A full 12,000 people were able to follow the building's inauguration ceremony recently, thanks to the high-quality live images on the screens.

While the building was still at the planning stage, the UCKG church asked Questek Customer Care (QCC) to supply the audio-visual installation for their new cathedral. QCC's task was to create a set-up which would afford all congregation members a good view of the preacher's face - no matter where they were sitting. Since most services are held during the daytime, a further challenge was to project quality images in ambient light.

QCC chose dnp's Supernova Screens primarily because of their ability to provide quality images in high ambient ligh

UK - On 15 September 2008, capitalism came to a grinding halt. As sub-prime mortgages and toxic securities continued to dominate the headlines, in spring 2009, London's National Theatre asked David Hare to write an urgent and immediate work that sought to find out what had happened and why. Helping to illustrate his story was G-LEC Phantom 30. A 17m by 3m tall screen flown in and out using four chain hoists showed video, original computer graphics, green screen images, text and still photographs.

Al Parkinson, the production manager for The Power of Yes, explains, "We knew that we wanted to make this show look as high tech as possible and while we'd used projection before, we'd never used LED screens. We used the internet to research a number of companies' products and then invited them to demonstrate them.

"During the show, some of the time, the screens were
