Denmark - Danish company Neets, who manufacture control systems for audio visual equipment, has developed a new power control - 1 relay box. This new power control offers the possibility to save power in installations and help the environment. At the same time, using the power control in your installation minimizes the risk of fire, the company says.

Installed with a Neets Control System, the relay box is designed to cut power from the projector, amplifier, DVD and other audio-visual equipment when the devices are not in use. The power control can cut power from two units at the same time. This gives you the possibility to cut off the expensive standby power.

USA - Launched at PLASA09 and currently showing at LDI in Orlando, the DVI Parrot by Carallon is billed as the first truly user-configurable EDID emulator. EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is a message, normally stored in computer monitors and other display devices, that computer graphics cards must see in order to function properly. The Parrot offers complete configurable control, allowing quick and easy modification of all EDID parameters, greatly simplifying system set-up and trouble-shooting, especially of the large complex video systems that are becoming so popular, says the company.

The Parrot is easily configured via USB on either Windows or Macintosh computers using a programme called the Par

UK - XL video UK supplied a PixLED screen, cameras, PPU and crew to the 2009 Cliff Richard & The Shadows UK and European tour which has just finished.

Video and lighting was designed by LD Derek Jones. The idea of the screen emerged when Jones decided that it would be more dynamic and expedient on truck space to replace potentially chunky scenery pieces with a multi-functional scenic/IMAG backdrop in the form of a screen.

Jones was particularly keen to have IMAG concentrated centre stage rather than on the traditional two side screen set up as - given Cliff and the Shadows' generally older demographic and their requirement for a clear view of the onstage action - side screens were also felt to distract attention away from t
