UK - Earlier this year, Manchester-based rental staging company, A to V became one of the first customers for the new Christie Roadster HD10K-M 3-chip DLP projectors, which were immediately pressed into service on a major product launch for Bosch.

The company originally purchased six projectors but have now doubled that quantity - principally to service a corporate awards spectacular for another household name, Co-operative Retail. Nine of the Christie units formed a pivotal part of the production, which took place in an unusual format at Manchester's G-MEX Centre in late October, and at the same time A to V debuted the new Spyder X20 processor from Vista Systems (a Christie company).

UK - The World Travel Market held at ExCeL last week used four of PSCo's 103" plasmas to relay content to the exhibition's travel professionals from across the globe.

The exhibition offered a seminar, conference and event programme presenting the issues and hot topics of the travel industry. Working with the exhibition since 1995, production company Fred Productions were brought in to produce the main conference set and relay live content and information to the show's visitors.

The World Travel Market is the first exhibition to use four 103" Panasonic plasma screens as a digital signage solution. The screens were positioned in the Boulevard between the exhibition halls to display live conference feeds, information about the upcoming seminars and advertisements for exhibitors at the show, mounted in exhibitor sponsored surrounds.

Finland - Gold Dust gaming club is a new international and modern club concept in Finland.

Medialon Show & Media Control Software has been selected and programmed by Lumia, the leading Finnish AV-automation company, to be the main music, audio and lighting controller of the entire gaming club in both Vantaa and Tampere.

The Medialon system works as a scheduling agent for atmosphere mode changes, and triggers the different shows played in each of the Gold Dust gaming club rooms.

"The Medialon system is the key ingredient. UK - E/T/C UK's Ross Ashton designed a specially commissioned projection artwork for Durham Cathedral as part of the four-day Lumière Durham Festival of Light event, curated and co-ordinated by Artichoke.

Ashton's work, Crown of Light, covered the entire North fascia of the Cathedral including all sides of the three towers, and was the largest installation of the festival, and arguably also the biggest cathedral projection to date in the UK. Durham Cathedral dates back to 1093 and is regarded as one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in the country. It is a designated UNESCO world Heritage Site along with nearby Durham Castle which faces it across Palace Green.

USA - At LDI in Orlando, Green Hippo demonstrated the power and versatility of their Hippotizer media server range.

Green Hippo ran a competition throughout the show to win a HippoCritter media server. To be in with a chance of winning this valuable prize, attendees simply completed a questionnaire and their details were automatically entered into the prize draw.

UK - Christie has announced that Audio Visual Materials (AVM) will distribute an expanded Christie portfolio, to include Christie's LCD projector range.

AVM has marketed Christie's single and three chip projection solutions to the AV reseller channel in the UK with great success since January 2008. The expansion of the offering to include Christie's fixed installation product is an organic progression of a successful and dovetailed working relationship between the two companies.

Video and lighting was designed by LD Derek Jones. The idea of the screen emerged when Jones decided that it would be more dynamic and expedient on truck space to replace potentially chunky scenery pieces with a multi-functional scenic/IMAG backdrop in the form of a screen.

This enabled them to run abstract and ambient effects as well as show IMAG, adopting a completely new style of presentation for a Cliff & The Shadows tour. Jones was particularly keen to have IMAG concentrated centre stage rather than on the traditional two side screen set up as - given Cliff and the Shadows' generally older demographic and their requirement for a clear view of the onstage action - side screens were also felt to distract attention away from t

Germany - tarm Showlaser, working on behalf of a major international pharmaceutical company delivered a spectacular five-minute laser performance in Berlin's Tempodrom.

An oversize model of the product, suspended dead centre of the hall ceiling, floated high above the heads of over a thousand invited guests. The experience was enhanced by a soundtrack, specially commissioned by the company's advertising agency.

To close out the performance, the 'star' of the show (the oversize model) landed on a carpet of light, comprising thousands of laser beams - projected from every angle of the circular hall.

UK - Projecting a 200ft high wall of poppies over Oldham Civic Centre to commemorate Remembrance week, EMF Technology worked with Oldham Council to support The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The dramatic projection, a first on this scale for the North West of England, employed six 7000w Xenon projectors with specially produced slide-work, beaming from custom designed secure locations, the high powered projection was visible from areas around Manchester between 4pm and midnight for seven nights.
