UK - DB Systems will help stage London Fashion Week's first ever Digital Schedule.

This new initiative involves the live streaming of fashion shows and a selection of digitally presented fashion films, which have been created by a number of innovative London designers.

Following a two-way pitch, DB was awarded the contract by creative event company Blonstein & Associates to be the official supplier of the audio visual elements in the show's digital presentation theatre. This will include providing networking solutions that allow video content to be sent to various screens and projectors around the site, as well as preparing and installing a number of screens, which will be supplied by LG.

The Netherlands - Optical screen manufacturers, dnp Denmark, reports an overwhelming response to their portfolio of displays at the recent ISE 2010 in Amsterdam, where German distributors, COMM-TEC and Paradigm AV from the UK demonstrated their technology.

Global sales manager, S°ren Kraemmergaard, described the decision to allow their key resellers to represent the company's range in their own specialist sectors as a complete success. "We noticed the favourable response, not only at these booths but also those of OEM partners such as Christie and Eyevis," he said.

Kraemmergaard added that although the general traffic appeared reduced this year, dnp were excited by the quality of visitor, and the potential of the follow-ups that this has generated.

The display is the centrepiece of the new HHi TiME Lab - HHI Tomorrow's Immersive Media Experience Lab to be launched at an official opening and symposium on 19 February at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, Germany.

The Tensioned Descender Electrol ensures the flattest possible viewing surface for a retractable screen thanks to its tab-tensioning system, says the company. The projection screen surface is tensioned in all four directions by a teardrop shaped aluminium extruded slat bar and nylon tensioning cables on each side to match with the parabolic curves of the screen. The end result is a projection viewing area that is evenly tensioned and suitable for all critical viewing projection.

The Tensioned Descender is available as either a standard 220v configuration or with a radio frequency controlled motor with Projecta's proprietary front projection screen surfaces.

UK - Small businesses are hoping to beat the recession by stepping up their sales and marketing strategies, a new survey has revealed. After cutting operating costs to the bare minimum, many smaller firms are hiring sales staff, improving their websites and boosting marketing activities in an effort to tackle tough trading conditions.

Research carried out by the not-for-profit Forum of Private Business (FPB) also found that business owners expect their efforts will pay off. More than half (56%) of those surveyed expect to increase their turnover in 2010 and 44% believe their business will grow.

Spain - The Honey Interpretation Centre opened in the Catalan town of Arnes in July 2008. Making use of the latest audiovisual technology, the museum explains the whole process of producing honey, the life of bees and everything else related with apiculture. Belonging to the town council of Arnes, the interpretation centre involved an investment of €310,000.

Urano Films, a multimedia and audiovisual production company from Catalonia, was commissioned to create the visual content for the centre and the overall integration of the audiovisual equipment, while Charmex, a partner of Christie, supplied the equipment itself. The centrepiece of the museum is a small film theatre screening a short educational 3D film on the life of bees. The theatre is equipped with a passive 3D system with two Christie LX450 projectors.
